Trip report Bahia Conception, San Ignacio, Valle Guadalope

Headed south on 2/11 with the first goal of hitting the El Recreo taco shop around lunch time which we managed and as ever did not disappoint. Next stop was an overnight in Catavina, we had a largish group of 13 so it was nice not to unpack and camp on the first pit stop.

Our destination the next day was playa Escondida and we arrived late afternoon after a comfortable drive. We spend 2 full days there and enjoyed the good food that passed our camp daily along with snorkeling and kayaking the bahia. The kids were in their element and just vanished each morning. It really is such a great beach to camp on.

Our next destination was Laguna San Ignacio for some whale watching, we have been going to Kuyama site pretty much every year for well over a decade. we happened upon it after an aborted fishing trip to Abreojos. As ever the encounters were amazing and their scallops are incredible. On our final night 2/17 the rains came... The next day we had a good 2-3 feet of standing water to navigate plus a whole lot of mud to navigate before we got back to the blacktop. After a long days driving and several water crossing we made it back to Jardine's in SQ for a hot shower and a great meal.

The next day we set of for the Valle Guadalupe as we had reservations at one of my favorite places to eat anywhere on the planet, Deckman's. With us being a larger group and being a creature of habit we had rooms reserved in Santa Maria Teresa, its a great hotel right in the heart of the Valle. After hitting a couple of tasting spots we had a fabulous meal in Deckman's and drew was an amazingly gracious host.

All in all we had an amazing trip. Baja never ceases to amaze and the conditions and experiences can literally change overnight.
