There is no easy way to get there in a small boat, but sometimes the trip is worthwhile. Here's a pic of a YF that taped 190#l I caught there a few years ago

Nice catch! What classifies as a small boat?

My boat is a Bluewater 23T, LOA 26' w/bracket. The Lusitania Bank is about 65 miles south of the Entrada to Mag Bay. I launch in Puerto Lopez Mateos 45 miles to the north, so a trip is well over 100 miles one way. When I have made the trip it has been for two or three days, anchoring one or two nights at Punta Belcher in Mag Bay.
Six years ago an all tackle world record 405# yellowfin (a record since broken) was caught on or near Lusitania by the long range boat Vagabond.

Actually, Lusitania is resting in piece on the ocean bottom 11 miles off the coast of Ireland, - whatever is left of her :)

So what I am gathering here is it really not very doable or wise to set out for the Lusitania banks in a panga. A bit far off the coast.:wow:
