Guaymas to Santa Rosalia Ferry
Gang,
We're heading out for our 2nd baja motorcycle adventure from Phoenix AZ down to the tip. To save some time we are coming through on the ferry from
Guaymas to Sata Rosalia and then south.
Last year, we missed the ferry out of Santa Rosalia due to them shipping a whole semi truck and trailer, which filled the whole darn thing.
Does anyone know if this ferry is still running? The website is down (not super surprising) and I wanted to try and verify, or we will have to rip
down to Topolbampo and then ferry to La Paz.
Any help is appreciated!

The ferry was still running as of two weeks ago. I think this is the website, with the schedule:

Remember to bring tie down straps for the bikes on the ferry. They are not always available.

I've taken that boat before and didn't find it to roll around at all. Maybe in a stiff Norther I suppose.
West bound was a daylight run so it wasn't necessary to book a cabin.

Guess it all depends on your tolerance level. Took it once and there was some rolling but not bad..... but if there's any chop it'll rock and roll.
One couple I knew took it (night run) and there was a blow... took 5 extra hours to get to Guaymas because of the Capitan having to tack and run with
the seas.
Besides, I get seasick watching The Deadliest Catch.

Yeah, the eastbound direction tends to hit the afternoon breeze and it's a night run part of the way.
The last time I took the ferry was from LaPaz to Topolobampo and the bathrooms were tragic. High top boots next time!

My one and only time we left S.R. right at dark, 8 pm, and reached Guaymas at 6:45 a.m. The 'oh-fish-ul' at S.R. tried shaking me down for extra
mordida for a picnic table I had on my truck roof.... he didn't succeed. Also, bought all the necessary paperwork for the Sonora side right in S. R.,
stickers and all. Drove off the ferry at the Guaymas dock and was home in 11 hours almost exactly; but would NOT be worth it in a beeg blow. The
couple I mentioned, only two people didn't get seasick; the Capitan and the husband, because he got invited to the bridge and watched the whole
process of tack-and-run. The poor wife chummed ALL NIGHT... 14 hours' worth.

Westbound from Guaymas once on a really hot Summer day with the breeze behind us so we were melting. I took my cat out of his carrier and laid him on
the deck in the shade. A deck hand was washing down and the water flowed right under the cat. The cat didn't even react he was so hot.

If it's full get creative. They didn't have room for my truck in December. So we put it in other truck.

Ha! Those pics are awesome! Last time we tried to catch ferry from S.R to Guaymas we got shut down by a semi truck and singlewide mobile home that
one of the mining companies paid to ship.
So we were stuck, had to ride at night (not my favorite on a bike w/cattle everywhere) back to San Ignacio to sleep.
This time, hopefully will be better.
