Highway 5 by bike
We plan to cycle tour highway 5 all the way from Mexicali to Laguna Chapala camping along the way. From the Baja Road Conditions forum I found out
that only 23 unpaved miles remain which is good news. I'm interested to know if there are enough towns/shops to restock on water and food regularly?
Say every 50 miles?
If you have any other tips, feel free to share. Thanks!

It has been 23 miles for 3 years now. Yes, stores for food/water south of San Felipe at Colonia Delicias km. 36, Puertecitos (paved turnoff km.
74.5), Rancho Grande market km. 147+ (Gonzaga Bay).
The longest dry stretch (between Mexicali and San Felipe) is between La Puerta and El Dorado Ranch... about 85 miles.

Thought about the bicycle ride from Mexicali to San Felipe for
a while, not overly, but a bit hesitant as I would be by myself.
Being dropped off at Calexico, then taking the bus back to TJ.
About 126 mi. border to SF? I think is called Campo Mayor,
I believe close to Rio Hardy, as I remember 60 mi. border
to Campo Mayor, very rustic palapa camping

Thanks David. Seems it should be fine, we'll just have to load up for the 85 mile stretch. What about any stores south of Gonzaga? I read about Coco's
Corner but not sure what is available there.

No stores south of Gonzaga. Coco's Corner is a friendly place to have a beer. Chapala has a tire repair and a cafe a kilometer south on the highway.
It is really nowhere. Cataviña is 30 miles north of Chapala, your next services.

Coco also has bottles of water for sale, but forsure Tecate is his best seller.

I think most would hope it remains unpaved
