Canadian man killed and robbed in La Paz
Hit over the head with a shovel. House burglarized and car stolen. 67 years old and not likely involved in Cartel activity for those who jump to
that conclusion.

Yabut, what about the perp(s) who did it? Ya think maybe they were customers of a cartel? Have to pay for the habit somehow, plus a stolen car could
be used for a transport vehicle. Not saying yes, but not saying no either. Tragic.
There was an old man stabbed to death at Playa Armenta on Concepcion around 15 years ago... that was before cartels also. No matter how you read it,
live a dream and die in a nightmare.
I don't have a BUCKET LIST, but I do have a F***- IT LIST a mile long!

Here is a Canadian version of this tragic story from the " Vancouver Sun."
It sounds like an investigation needs to be done, because it doesn't seem like a random killing with just robbery as the motive.
According to the article, the 67 year old Canadian victim was security conscious and had heavy iron gates that had to be opened up.
It sounds like Cornelson may have known his killer.
Who goes around carrying a shovel to rob a house, and then uses that shovel on their victim?
The first question I would want to know is how much money does Cornelson have, and does he have any life insurance?
The Consular services doesn't want to release any more details because they want to protect the privacy of the individuals concerned. What? The
individual is dead, I don't think he cares about his privacy anymore.

Victoria woman finds brother dead in his Mexico home
A man who had lived in Mexico for the past 10 years was found dead in his home north of Los Cabos, an apparent robbery victim, by his sister who had
just arrived the night before from Victoria for a visit.
John Wesley Cornelson, 67, had dropped off his sister, Barb Denney, and her friend at a hotel after they arrived Tuesday in La Paz, about 90 minutes
north of Los Cabos in the state of Baja California Sur.
When he didn’t show for breakfast Wednesday as they’d agreed, she got a neighbour to open the door to his house. Denney found Cornelson dead in
the dwelling, the man’s other sister, Darlene Tait, said from her Victoria home.
A Mexican news report said it appeared he had been hit on the head with a shovel and his house had been ransacked. His beige, 2000 Buick with Canadian
plates was gone.
Global Affairs Canada confirmed a Canadian was murdered in Mexico, but couldn’t release the name.
“We offer our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the Canadian citizen who has been murdered in Mexico,” said spokeswoman Brittany
Venhola-Fletcher. “Consular services are being provided to the victim’s family. Consular officials are in contact with local authorities to gather
additional information. To protect the privacy of the individuals concerned, further details on this case cannot be released.”
Tait said her brother had lived alone in the city that she called “an authentic Mexico working city that doesn’t cater to tourism.” And he chose
to live among the locals in the city as opposed to where non-Mexicans lived.
“He was just living a quiet life down there,” she said. “He was just looking to get away from Edmonton winters.”
Cornelson wasn’t a social person and didn’t go out at night, preferring instead to putter around his home and garden.
“He pretty much kept to himself,” she said. Occasionally family members would visit Cornelson, who was divorced and had no children, and last
worked as a city bus driver in Edmonton.
She said her brother was security conscious and had heavy iron gates around his property that he had to open to drive through, and she said he
wasn’t involved in drugs in any way.
The police are investigating.

UPDATE:We are reading your posts and appreciate your warmth and condolences. Thank you.
I am the sister of the man murdered the night before last. His name is Wes Cornelson and he decided 10 years ago to get out of the northern weather
and move to La Paz. To end any speculation, he was 67 years old and spent his days tending to his home. He was not wealthy nor flashy and was very
security conscious. After a visit with my sister after picking her up at the airport he returned home and opened his gate to drive his car in. We
suspect that is when the murdering thieves got in and beat his head in with a shovel. They ransacked his house for nothing...there was no money no
jewellery and they didn't even bother to take his computer. He had no links to any activite that might suggest this violence.

Now the story is starting to make sense as the Investigator lays out two possible motives of the perpetrators, and I zeroed in on the second motive of
the 67 year old Canadian liked to have affairs with young Mexican women!
I never brought the random murder of a Canadian, especially by the Mexican cartel, when the article also mentions the victim was security conscious.
It also looks like there is something more to the story, because the PGJE is tight lipped about his case so far.

investigación en el caso del asesinato del canadiense John Wesley Cornelson: el robo y la venganza.
Y es que dentro de la vivienda del extranjero de 67 años fueron encontradas algunas evidencias de riña que –según un agente de investigación en
el caso—tienen conexión con un forcejeo entre la víctima y el victimario, después de haber asesinado a golpes con una pala.
Las dos principales hipótesis están prácticamente basadas en el hallazgo de la escena del crimen dentro de la vivienda localizada en la calle de

suspect that was arrested on the 24. After this sleaze piece was written.
