I was last there this past fall and there was a burglary at that time.
The goods were found in a truck that got stuck on the back road to San Bruno
I have heard that this has been going on for some time now
and as late as several more break-ins this past week.
I'm obviously not there and have only second hand/ hearsay info
Thus the inquire

I was there (at Russ' place) last month... no mention of any bad stuff that I recall.

There were a couple of break-ins reported. The Homeowners Association has taken a number of steps in response. The most
obvious one is that Neighborhood Watch signs have been posted in English and Spanish.

We are extremely worried and on alert status. Actually the whole community is really peeed off and ready for war. The last 2 weeks there have been many homes broken into. There is a meeting today with our leaders for the neighborhood watch with 3 of the town police chiefs and maybe a fed rep too. Lots of discussions, rumors and threats of violence here recently. Folks that have been robbed have been notified. The items taken are, in the most part, things that can be resold quickly. However there have been times when vehicles and larger items are taken.

It's awful to hear things like this. For so many years I didn't even lock my house, but times have changed....

The more the economy tanks and prices go up and not wages, the more desperate impoverished people become. Ergo, the more the 'haves' will be targets for the 'have-nots'. I don't see it getting any better any time soon either.

I have just learned that we will have one of the local police depts. patrolling every night now. Also the agencies involved are getting more info on how best to serve our area and will be having an open meeting shortly. 911 will bring out the local Palo Verde police and 113 will contact Santa Rosalia police. Many of us believe that many of these break-ins are drug (tweekers) related because of the items stolen.

If they did I didn't notice. Nice to know they are in the area. I'm keeping my radio on all night in case I can help. I hope others are too.
Chuckie, We suppose so. We'll know more after the upcoming meeting.

This is so upsetting - I love the PC community and those I know there are always kind to locals. It makes me wonder if drug dealers have found a new market in Santa Rosalia and Mulege? It is heartbreaking to think that people in those and the surrounding communities have succumbed to the addictive qualities of meth and who knows that else. In any case can you all keep an eye on my father-in-law, Charming Charlie? (his casa is right next to fish camp) and make sure he is aware of what is going on? Communicating over the phone and radio is not as easy as it used to be, his hearing is as old as he is...

BajaMama, Charlie has neighbors that are keeping watch.
KaceyJ, Garage fire ... started by the new type batteries. Local workers discovered it and went into action. Lots of smoke damage but fire was contained to the battery area.
Cops actually pulled in my place last night and shined a light around.

Off topic a bit; cops are patrolling twice a day through our camp in BOLA. This is new.
