Cabo Trip May 24-31
I know most everyone on here is the road trippin' type, so a fly in Cabo trip report isn't of much interest, but I thought there might be a few things
to report of interest.
We stayed in Zacatitos and spent most of the time on the East Cape between San Jose and Cabo Pulmo. The East Cape road is paved to the point where it
takes a 90 degree turn heading straight for the coast (right after Zacatitos). There was some talk of a resort in that area being built possibly
extending the pavement a bit. They were doing work on the road about halfway between Zacatitos and the Vidasoul Hotel. Everything after the Vidasoul
Hotel is a bad washboard and not fun in a small car (but definitely doable).
Thanks to everyone for recommendations on where to eat and things to do. We did a lot of beach exploring, did the tourist stuff in Cabo for a day,
Cañon de la Zorra, beaches upon beaches, snorkeling at los arbolitos, Huerta los Tamarindos, hiked Mt. Solmar, and much more. Weather was great,
most days in the high 80's.
We went to Cañon de la Zorra on Sunday and it was gorgeous. Just be aware that the guys at the Eco Ranch have blocked the road at the ranch and
are requiring you to park there and pay to get to the hike. Price was $3 USD per person or $100 pesos per person (rip off to pay in pesos compared to
USD - exchange was 18.50 that day).
We didn't enjoy Huerta Los Tamarindos as much as we expected to, the food wasn't all that spectacular and mostly overpriced. The cooking class looked
fun, but we didn't do it. We did enjoy eating authentic food at Mi Casa in the old downtown San Jose area as well as tacos de Chorizo Argentino y
Chistorra at Baja Querer right behind La Comer supermarket. Highly recommend both of those places as well as Zac's in Zacatitos.
You can still get in through the dog pound to hike Cerro Solmar to get to Divorce/Lovers beach for free, although you should tip the guy who lets you
in. Still a lot cheaper than a water taxi, and awesome views too. There was a skimboard comp. going on at Divorce Beach so that was really cool to
watch.
For anyone who hasn't been on the east cape area of the coast, but has been to other parts of Mexico, the east cape beaches are mostly empty, but you
almost always have a Gringo house overlooking the beach anywhere between San Jose and Pulmo. It's not like some parts of Mexico where the beaches are
completely deserted.

From the point of view from one of those Gringo houses overlooking the beach, well done. You got out of the tourist hotel bubble and experienced the
joys of the countryside. It is not hard to do for those with an interest.
No b-tchin\' in the Baja.

Folks better hurry up and visit the empty beaches along the East Cape. New development at Santa Elena has power lines coming in from the mtn side
and grading going on. Bahia Terranova is taking over our beloved Nine Palms and the paved road can't be far behind! Maybe someone can post a
link..Bahia Terranova @ East CapeKite Boarding.com. Many have surfed and camped this area since the early days like me. Beautiful area; water
temps in May have been near 80 degrees with hot, sunny days. First visit Argentino? Glad you enjoyed. Tio

If a 'Fly in' trip is what you have time for, then it sounds like you made the most of it!
Thanks for posting the report! I may be able to check out some of the attractions you mentioned, at least the dog friendly ones.
If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space!

Yeah first time in BCS. I've done the drive in to bola and back twice though, so not my first Baja trip.
