They'll be trapping the vaquita to put them in the Sea World™ display tanks at Marina Azul™ in Puertecitos.

At least they are doing something instead of sitting in their bedroom in underwear typing their negative thoughts, sharing their negative vibes.

Actually, DiCaprio is doing the good work, getting the message out, aiding in fundraising, and contributing his own $ for environmental conservation efforts. He proves that you can be a good guy even when you spend most of the day chasing pussy.

Really would have been nice if the government cared enough two or three years ago. Get the Navy and Air Force off their burros and go after the netters and the poachers. Sink a few boats and get their attention

Probably so. Here's a 2017 WWF analysis estimating there are 30 left.

I wonder how they came up with that number.

Don't Give Up

Pelicans, condors, wolves, big horn sheep and alligators were critically in danger of extinction just in the last century.

Vigorous efforts have brought them all back to growing and hopefully sustainable levels for survival.

Carlos Slim and Leonardo DiCaprio both have the high profile and the money to push a good effort.

Success stories!

Bald Eagle
By the early 1960s, the count of nesting bald eagles plummeted to about 480 in the lower 48 states. Today, with some 14,000 breeding pairs in the skies over North America, the bald eagle endures as a testament to the strength and undeniable moral correctness of the Endangered Species Act.

Southern Sea Otter
Sea otters once numbered in the thousands before the fur trade and other factors reduced their numbers to about 50 in 1914. Listed under the Endangered Species Act in 1977, this remarkable species rebounded to approximately 2,800 individuals between 2005 and 2010.

Humpback Whale
The whaling industry dramatically depleted humpback populations from a high of more than 125,000; by the mid-1960s, only 1,200 individuals swam in the North Pacific. That tiny population of humpbacks has swelled to more than 22,000 members today due to a strong recovery program implemented under the Endangered Species Act.

Back in the day there were Trumps screaming and yelling that protection of these critters was killin jobs, hurting industry. They were wrong. When you hear the GOP say it is impossible to protect the environment w/o killing jobs, please remind them that history has proven them wrong!

Resist!

Fight the Russia-enabling president, vote blue!
