Looking for an RV to travel with next March
My wife and I are heading for Loreto in March. We've flown to Cabo and Loreto in the past and driven about Baja several times but never driven down in
our Sprinter. Would love to hook up with another rig for the trip down, currently planned for early March, 2018, (date is flexible depending on your
schedule for the next couple months until we book a condo). We'll join friends at Loreto Bay for a week. We'd like to camp a couple times on the way
and we try not to drive more than 4 hours per day. There may be stretches where that's not possible, but we're in no hurry. Hotels will work if
necessary.

What year is your Sprinter and is it gas or diesel??

Does it need/require ULSD??. None to be had south of Jesus Maria, just north of Guerrero Negro and the state line

Welcome to the forum!
Which side of the lake are you on? I am in Alaska right now, but spend the winter over the hill from you in Grass Valley, CA.
My trips are generally just before, or just after ski season, but who knows what the conditions will be like this coming March?
Bajaguy is just over the other hill in Carson City, so maybe you will be traveling with neighbors some day. There are long stretches of the road that
I would prefer to do more than four hours a day, but I could be flexible.
By the way, my RV is something you would tow behind yours, but I camp in it okay, and an occasional motel is in my low budget.
If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space!

Bajaguy mad a mistake of traveling south on US395 on a Sunday. Southbound Mammoth traffic to the I-15, then Las Vegas traffic south. Bunked up in
Temecula for the night,

Yeah, I'm aware of the lack of ULSD. From other trip reports, I've heard that my MB will recover after drinking a couple weeks of Baja diesel. (And I
plan to recover after sipping the local tequila.) Thanks for the info, I'll do more research to be sure.

we travel the length of the peninsula several times a year in a 2006 sprinter rv. of course , being an '06 it has no requirement for ULSD. and, we
do it with out an escort.

Four hours a day is ridiculous, even on the shortest day of the year. You'll be hard pressed to find anyone willing to take 5-6 days to reach LTO.
Anything's possible tho.

Good to know. We've driven across the US four times but hated the 12 hour days. Maybe we're thinking SD to LTO is shorter. Will consult our maps
again.

Focus on the journey, not the destination.
A great non-surfing, non-fishing itinerary for March that does not involve too long of a drive each day. each stop would be an overnight for 1 or
more nights.

Bahia de LA
Sierra de San Francisco
Laguna San Ignacio
Santa Rosalia

Bahia de Concepcion
etc.
etc.
etc.
if you were a surfer or beach fisher, you could find good spots every couple hours. just ask dk, he can post maps of all the secret spots

Appreciate the itinerary! Sounds like my kinda touring vacation. We'll map your recommendations for mileage and drive time.
(We spent 4.5 months poking round the Western Nat Parks doing 4-5 hours per day. Basing this trip on that one, but willing to change up as necessary.)

Where will you be starting your trip from? I saw the link you posted to the Tahoe shot, and thought that was your home base.

We live in Ashland (Southern OR) and will start from there, but anticipate hooking up in San Diego.
Yep, I totally didn't understand your comment, but duh, now I get the connection to our winter photo at Tahoe.

Alternative to I 5
Since you are starting well north of the border, you might want to view this thread from last year, posted by a fellow Oregonian (sp?)

Unless there is a compelling reason to drive down I 5, I prefer the east side of the Sierra, and Baja. It seems like you are not in a hurry, and
there is a lot to be said for avoiding the congestion of South CA, TJ and Ensenada!
