Thoroughly confused on this map/Almanac.
Prices from $24, hundreds to thousands.
Price dependent on author, paper quality, ...?

The 2003 is the best in my opinion. The 86, 91 and 2009 are too big to carry along on a trip. The 98 version is OK. I have all but the 91 version.

Thanks for all the replies.
Possibly once in the Baja connecting with other travelers a few of these maps may be available for viewing.
Settles for a Map from ITMB publishing. On sale for $8.50 Cnd. The petro dollar. That would be $6 US? LOL.

There is nothing quite as valuable as a good map when exploring a new region or one you have enjoyed your whole life.
There are two maps that are valuable to have in Baja and a close third.
1) The Automobile Club folding map because it has all the major roads and several dirt roads ALL with mileages between road junctions, ranches, towns,
etc. Last printing 2010.
2) The Baja California Almanac because it shows nearly all roads and trails on a topographic color relief map. Mileages as well, but along major roads
only. It is a book of maps. The 2009 updated version is very large. The 2003 one is easier to use but does not have some of the newer roads that are
included in the 2009 edition.
3) The National Geographic folding pair of Baja maps. They are huge scale maps, not easy to use but have good topographic features, just not a lot of
road detail. Published in 2008.
Most others are not too helpful.

Probably not to cool but could someone scan a version for pdf? I loaned mine out to a baja newbie and it's long gone. I emailed the website for the
almanac but recieved no response, I would happily pay a premium for a pdf copy?

Nice links Tom, but the original website baja-alamanc.com was Landon's and he is no longer with us with no word of anyone in the family interested in
continuing it.
Sadly, Baja Bound Insurance has sold all they had available, at half the other prices online: https://www.bajabound.com/before/aboutmex/bajaalmanac.php
I know they are trying to get more copies.

The Nat Geo maps have a lot of mistakes. The one above doesn't show the road out to hwy 1 across Chapala, it shows the road from when you were a kid.

This is why I no longer recommend maps. They are grossly out of date. A good GPS and and associated baja is far better and easier to keep up to
date.

Yes, true... and the Almanac has the wrong latitude figures on several pages. I was just saying of the three, the Nat Geo is cheap and a nice map for
showing the land and most of the main roads.
As for Ralph's reply... a living (easily updated) online map with Google Earth style GPS location ability is in the works. One may download it or
print out areas of interest if you are going into a non-cell area. If he or anyone knows of other such maps already available to the average Baja
traveler, please post links.

For Topo maps, e32 maps are great. Available for Garmin or as an app. http://cartografiagps.com/en/app-e32-gps.php
For roads City Navigator Mexico are not bad if you get the lifetime updates.
A GPS does not rely on cell service...no need to worry about downloads or printing of maps.

Technology fails, back up your GPS with paper maps. If you will be going off-road, get topo maps that show terrain features

Wow, found a few on ebay. $250 for new, 115 for lightly used. That's crazy prices. I bought mine for $21 bucks off eBay a few years ago. Getting
harder to find.

That's why I have a new copy of both the 2003 and 2009 so I can have copies made when my old one get too bad to use.
