It was from my last trip and Shari's hospitality again prompted me to say something about the place.
Two of the photos were not mine... The ones of the Inn (says 'Hotel' on the building) and of the bufadora sprays were mine.

I am sure Shari's place is great. But haven't I read where there are other hotels and fishing guides available in Asuncion? If so, Isn't this
report a little incomplete? Just saying. No negative intent towards Shari (I don't know her).

So you didn't read my article or you missed them mentioned? The other two both looked sad and deserted. Not my fault if only Juan & Shari's has
life. The article was primarily about La Bufadora Inn, no intent to be unbiased. I want my readers to have the same great experiences as I always do,
staying there. |
Too bad you have never expanded your horizons to meet other people in BA or try other businesses. It could be enlightening and then maybe you could
do a far more balanced report about the town you really don't know.
But, great advertisement for Shari and as you say, totally biased.

Try reading my dozens of other articles. This one was about Shari's, and Bahía Asunción, in that order. No one person has done more for that town
than Shari. She and Juan deserve all the good that can come their way. Now, you all are welcome to write about other places in Baja. Baja Bound has
asked for additional contributors. Go for it!

Sorry to of upset you. The title was Asuncion iamond in the rough. That is what
got my attention. Maybe the title is misleading then.

I have to go with David on this. Why must people always bash him , it seams, to matter what he does.
He wrote an article about asuncion and shari's place. It was not titled all the hotels is asuncion, or everything you need to know about asuncion.
I thought it was a well written article about a place I have been often.
Lighten up a little it must be hard being perfect.
Looking forward to your articles. Please post them here so we can critique them for you.

We strive for good service here and others have written nice articles about our place in other magazines and websites and we are thankful for that.
It is a challenge running a business in a small village so far off the beaten track. There is very little drive by guests so we rely on word of mouth,
reviews and articles to let people know we are here and welcome visitors to our beautiful pueblo. The townfolk really appreciate the tourists who do
come as the fishing industry is suffering so the extra tourist pesos help.
Here is a small update for those of you who need it.
A few days ago I got a call from the fisheries inspector who wanted to update our contact information and he said that Juan is the only fishing guide
with the proper permits here (perhaps some of you who dont live here arent up on the current info)
....there are 2 other hotels in the village Hotel Verduzco and he newer hotel on the beach which an out of town person just bought and changed the
name to Hotel Playa I think...there is a phone # on the window to call for service. I dont believe the B&B is operating as we got a call from
people who had reservations but nobody was there and when they did find someone the rooms were not ready. I havent seen any movement there for a long
time.

Geeze...the minnions have come out in defense. I only asked why no mention of nothing else in Asuncion. Shari answered the question. Good for her.

The article was not a detailed history, as many are my Baja Bound articles, or my 2016 book ('Baja California Land of Missions') is, using documented
sources. The article was my personal experience, last month, and is the FOURTH time I have stayed at one of Shari's rooms and visited (not lived in)
the town.
Those of you who lived there: Where are your books, or articles, about Asunción???

Thank you, Baja Nomads, for your interest and I encourage you all to recommend and help bring business to those Baja establishments that are honest,
provide a needed or useful service, and go the extra 'kilometer' to see to the needs or comfort of their customers. That they are also Nomads here
should naturally get Nomad support. Shari's is just one... Baja Cactus in El Rosario is another. Los Olivos and Posada Don Diego also are owned by
Nomads. Maybe a list of Baja Nomad member-owned businesses is an idea?

Very well written article. Maybe didn't cover every hole in the wall in town but more than enough information to bring the curious Baja traveler in
for a look.

That is exactly how I want my travel articles and (future) Baja road guide to do... inspire those with a quest for fun and adventure to take the fork
in the road!

I personally, enjoyed the article.
To be fair, David could only write more and be honest, had he stayed at the other accomodations - so I think he did well by simply mentioning them.
