Softball-sized spider identified in a sierra cave east of La Paz. . . Califorctenus cacachilensis.

I lived in the Old Convict Labor Jail, between Bisbee and Tombstone Az. for a good while. I shared the facility with a HUGE Tarantula, who became quite friendly. It would come out to visit often, and would crawl up my arm and sit on my head. It would eat hamburger off the back of my hand when it was offered. Spooked lady guests...neat critter!
