Off and running

Well at my age "off and running" is more like I'm lucky just to be off.

Hello and Buenos suete to ya all.
Left home at my normal first thing in the morning. Driving early , cup of Joe in hand with the sun rising is one great feelin. Stems back from when I was a little fella. Every year my Dad & all us would always leave at the butt-crack of dawn to get an early start. Funny how one grows up influences yourself the rest of your life.
After stopping to pick up some things at Blanca Moms house ( Eva is such a gem ), I made the short trip to Tijuana where I'll spend a couple of days before onward to Ensenada.
Im'a sittin here in my hotel with Senor Don Julio and Mr. Sol w/clamato in advance of some great Tacos for lunch.

I won't be able to post any photos till I reach Shari's place ( this will be after I hopefully get het to show me how to ) but I'll try to take a bunch along the way. Till then it's text solomente.
I'll be updating along the way as Internet is available.
Be well, Paco

:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

My mom is the BEST and today, you are my hero Paco and the hero for Bahia Asuncion as well for taking the neck braces.

You are so lucky and smart to take the trip so slowly.

Thanks again, I am xmas shopping for the teens and bought even more stuff today. Since my photobucket isn't letting me post, I have to find an alternative site. Such a disappointment....ughhhh#$%^!!

Have fun and safe travels.

Thanks for the coment Carlosg.

Quick update, in San Quintin at the Old Mill going to the Beer & oyster fest today.
Man I REALLY like the Old Mill, what a fine dinner , service and ambience Javier the owner is now providing. The room and nice and clean also.

One SNAFU happened while in Esenada , I realized that my visa had ran out a week prior, oh H*ll !
Had to go back into the US then return to Mex. for a new one.
Really glad that I recently got my Sentri pass. Everything went smooth and the drive along the coast is always enjoyable .....

Not much happening in the way of fish so far so may end up at Shari place sooner than later. But as you know iit's pretty darn tough to have a bad time in Baja.

A bunch of Guys staying at Don Eddies are going out today so I'll try to find out how they did but attending a beer fest may get in the way ????

I'm not able to type a longer report as my old tablet gets kinda stuck.

Wanted to add that I stoppeg at the Grandpas and everything looked good. Place was clean and the new caretaker, Angel seams like a great guy.
Glad that Costco has such HUGE pies as I didn't know that there are eleven G-pas.

Thanks for taking the time to report in!

Was there no possible way for you to get to the Mexican border from the Tijuana side, to avoid crossing back into the U.S. just to get to INM, back in Mexico? I know the route is likely not easy and why the idea of turning in the (free 7-day) FMM there is pretty crazy.

I hope you travel in peace now, after all that! The odds are nobody will ever ask to see it. But, it is better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it!

I never got the free 7 day version. As I drove in .
My 6 month one expired a week ago .

I'm not sure how long I'll be in Baja so I'd rather
be safe

Yes, I got that. I was adding about how the free one is supposed to be returned, and that Tijuana is far from easy to drive to INM, from inside Mexico. Did you try to find the street to get to it before crossing to the U.S.?

I didn't even try to get to IMM from the Mexico side .
I thought about parking somewhere and taking a cab but I believe that the cab could only get you so far and
I'm in need of a couple of new knees so walking that far is out .
Plus I wanted to try out my new Sentri pass , worked great.
But without a Waze app on your phone it would be REALLY hard to find in Sentri lanes .

As for Javier and the Old Mill he told me he bought it four years ago .
He has made improvements and I REALLY liked staying there , even slept on a comfortable mattress. His restaurant is serving up some fine dishes . Javier also kept the nice tradition of a free welcoming beer .

Don Eddies , next door, is now for sale .

Yep ,I made it and am happy as a clam .

Not anything to report in the way of fish , except an exceptional White Sea bass meal at the Old Mill and some fantastic BBG Yellowtail at the Cielito Lindo .
There was a group of flying Drs. doing volunteer work staying there and they were gracious enough to invite me to partake in the meal .
I had a great time there . The place is super cool , I love places full of history , and what fantastic Margaritas !
The room I stayed in was huge with a good mattress and was very clean. Only bad aspect was the mosquitos .

This storm that passed through has the water churned up so will have to wait to get on the water .

Met Sheri and Juan , what great people !
The casa is beautiful and couldn't be in a better location .
We enjoyed one of her famous happy hours .
Thanks Sheri .
