So, where the victims innocent citizens or tourists, or (as is most common) in the drug business or law-enforcement?

Drugs

Both articles referenced the drug violence and it looked to me that the stories were making an attempt to relate the shootings to cartels. At this point it sure looks as though David K was correct - did you read them Chuckie?

It was daytime on a popular (tourist) beach when the bullets started flying.

Tourists should be worried.

It's odd that none of the reports I've read, English and Spanish, say anything about the victims except three men relaxing under a palm tree dead and two others, man and woman, wounded. Here's some video, doesn't show much but you can hear the gunfire, lots of it.

... it IS horrible...

Ever seen anyone shot to pieces in front of you? I don't care if it was a cartel hit on each other or not... the beach was crowded with innocent tourists screaming and running for cover.

You don't have to get hit with a bullet to take home everlasting scars. :smug:

Didn't sound like an AK. Still, an AK can fire 30 rounds in about 3 seconds -- a kevlar vest is useless, DK.

Pamilla is a nice beach. This was a hit -- innocent tourists have nothing to worry about. I'm not worried. I'm innocent, mostly.

For those who don't want to read the entire report, here's the summary/conclusion:
"More than 230 people have been murdered in Los Cabos alone so far this year.

"More than 186,000 people have been murdered and another 30,000 have gone missing in Mexico since 2006, when the government deployed the military to fight organized crime.

"Experts say the capture of the top drug cartel leaders has spawned numerous independent criminal groups that have moved beyond drug trafficking into robbery, kidnapping and extortion in areas they control."

Oh, come on, automatic gun fire killing three and wounding two on the beach at a resort full of tourists on a Sunday afternoon.

Naw, no worries, they're not after you. You may witness some bad guys getting blown apart at the palm tree next to you but bar service will restart in 20 minutes, as soon as the corpses are dragged away.

Kill your competitors and do it in a manner that will make international news and harm tourism, so the cops / gov officials back off.

I wonder if this will be on the national TV news shows tonight.

Here is a link to a Brietbart article with video and sound effects:

http://www.breitbart.com/texas/2017/08/07/watch-cartel-gunme...

It is surprising to learn this happened at Palmilla...location is near an exclusive enclave for the elite. A lot of the killing occurs in the Mexican neighbourhoods, with bodies frequently dumped near the El Tule surf area.

According to replies,on local media sources, Mexicans are worried about their safety and the impact on tourism the killings are having (236 this year to date, with 11 this weekend. Some identify the current government as the cause, others parenting. FB Sources: Zona Roja BCS, Collectivo Pericu.
