Santa Fe Station in San Diego.. CBX shuttle passes through about every hour back and forth to the Bridge and Lundeberg Field...

Santa Fe Station is correct. It's the end of the line for Amtrak. However, I would call the CBX shuttle number and make sure they know you will be there. Vans and drivers are great.

Got an Uber to go up to the station and in route the Uber girl offered to take me off book up to LA (Calabasas) for $150 so I just did that.

Was a last minute deal. My flight from Hermosillo to LAX was cancelled and I scrambled to find another way home.

Long day.

Santa Fe in San Diego is served by Amtrak.
Santa Ana - by Metrolink and Amtrak.

Metrolink connects with NCTD Coaster in Oceanside which goes to the Santa Fe station in downtown San Diego.

"Connects".
My point was that it's not possible to take Metrolink from Santa Fe station.

you are right///

I bought a ticket at the santa fe station on a "metro-link" like train to Oceanside (couple bucks not amtrack)...

I had to get off the train and buy another ticket there...
then a $2 all day sunday pass on the "real" metrolink to downtown la and Montclair ca

total cost from the border was about $8
