Baja Ferry ?

Hola,
I am planning to cross into Mexico at Nogales, Sonora and get my FMM and TIP at KM21...On my return trip I would like to take the ferry from Mazatlan to La Paz and drive up Baja and exit at Tecate...My question is can I turn in my TIP and receive my deposit refund at Pichilingue or one of the other Banjercito Office in La Paz?
If I decide to reverse my trip can I get a TIP at Pichilingue ?

I've heard that you cannot get a refund at the ferry terminal in La Paz. that you must take your vehicle across one of the land border crossings to do so but that you can get a TIP for the mainland there.

Anyone with first hand recent knowledge out there?

reality\'s never been of much use out here...

My friends took the ferry over from La Paz then back again. I believe they got their TIP at the ferry terminal altho where you get it is irrelevant I believe. Upon exit that trip they didn't have time or energy to turn it in so they just drove back to Oregon. A few months later they came back down for a week and upon the exit of that trip, we found the office at Mexically East and a full refund was issued. It just has to be within 6 months of issue date otherwise they keep the deposit. In out case we made it 1 day before the 6 months had elapsed.

The idea that they issue TIPS at La Paz but don't collect them upon return seems really dumb to me. But, it is Messico.

I would actually call the Banercito, re location, hours and can they cancel TIPS? before going thrre. A few years back we had to go east on the quota toll road to Mexicali east cxing to cancel a TIP. Not a big deal, heading to AZ, but the road was a steep roller coaster. Not good w/trailer.
Know before go. Other Banercito can call for you if no cell, or Skype. The locations are online w/numbers.

"we found the office at Mexically East and a full refund was issued". Where exactly did you find the Mexicali East Banjercito? Is it at the same location as the Immigration office where FMMs are obtained? Or is it at a completely different location? Thx, Rob
