Mood: Have Baja Fever

Remember the 50th annual edition of the Baja 1000 is this November. The run is to La Paz, as it was in 1967. Expect all motels to be booked along the route for the days close to the race days.

The SCORE Baja 1000 race is Nov, 14-18. I don't recall if they said which side they will go down from Ensenada but below LA Bay to La Paz hotels may be hard to get during this time frame. The race will start in Ensenada on Thursday Nov. 16. Bikes may start the night before. After the race lots of hwy traffic as they come back from La Paz.

During the race lots of hwy traffic as the chase crews follow the race down. Some get really nuts so if you are on the hwy then be very careful.

If you want to stay in the dirt for much of the trip down there are three sections worth consideration.

1- LA Bay to Vizcaino.
2- San Ignacio to San Juanico.
3- Constitucion to La Paz.

David K has run on these routes this year so you could read his post under Nomad Trip Reports to get an ideal of what to expect. Also if you are not sure where you are or how to get somewhere don't hesitate to ask someone along the way. The locals are very helpful. I ask all the time because I'm always lost.
