Santa Rita Hot Springs, near Santiago, BCS

I visited Santa Rita Hot Springs earlier this year in my 4wd, high clearance vehicle. I am planning a trip to the area for this coming January, but this time I will be flying to Cabo and renting a 2wd sedan.

I have read a couple of travel articles that say the hot springs is accessible by 2wd rental vehicle. Is this accurate? My recollection is that there was a lot of sand and a couple of steep rocky sections of the road that leads there from the zoo in Santiago.

Hopefully some of you have a clearer picture of this than I do.

I have not been in there since 2013, but I don't recall any stretch of road that required much technical or mechanical capabilities. There were a couple of other vehicles in there, and at least one of them was a sedan.

I may have driven it just after seasonal repairs, or perhaps you took a fork that uses part of the arroyo on the way up there. I hope someone else chimes in with more recent info.
