THANKS! Looks like 60 paved highway miles unless they use some old road not covered up south of Puertecitos?
Do you know when Pre-Running begins?

Looking closer, I see it is nearly identical in route concept to the 1973 Baja 1000 except for the La Purisima to Loreto and back west part. 1973 was the first race to be officially called 'Baja 1000' (they were 'Mexican 1000' races before).

Pre-running from Oct.20 to Nov.15 is almost 4 weeks. We haven't seen that for a while.

About what time of the day/night will the first racers be at the 800 mile marker?

For the trucks, figure the fast ones at 50 plus mph average, that should get you pretty close.

The lead bikes should be coming into Loreto 4-5pm Thursday. Lead trucks should be closer to 2am Friday.

Bikes start at Midnight Wednesday and the cars/trucks start at 10am Thursday morning. This is a pretty fast course so I would expect the fastest bike to average about 55mph and the fastest Trophy Truck about 60 mph.

Hmmm, maybe I'll spend the night in Loreto or close by.

The Luxury Villas by Villa del Palmar at the Islands of Loreto has rooms at $626 per night during the Baja 1000 race. Don't waste your time in a cheap place get the best.

I'll be in my camper, driving down from Mulege.

Maybe someplace offroad but not too far from the highway.

At the turn toward San Javier in the arroyo would probably be a good place and I'm sure others will be there.

Motocross of Nation in coming on now.

So, is Calamajué Canyon open to off road racing again or it only looks that way on this map?

It's kind of hard to say from the map but my guess is that they will come out to Chapala and take the east side around like they have done in the last couple of 1000s.

Hmmm... looks like Mile 320 is Coco's Corner... and you can see the line for Hwy. 1 to the west and south, and the course does not go near it until El Crucero (near Mile 360)... indicating Calamajué Canyon... but who knows!?
