Best place to stay in San Felipe?
Stopping over one night. What's good/secure?

LA hotel a couple miles south of town is good. Secure courtyard with a guard on duty all night. Clean rooms overlook parking lot . Green 3 story
bldg. About 35 bucks for 2 beds in May. No beach, 1/4 mile from ocean.

stayed at the LA Hotel last Sat. nite. only problem was traffic noise out front.. nice room, indoor small pool, not close to restauurants...
Also Blue Sky north of town not the Sky Blue one next door,, restaurants in walking distance.. also nice room outdoor pool...
right now there is a contingent of Federalies staying at the LA Hotel, they are working with the U.S. group helping with the vaquita dolphin problem
so at night you are really safe
In town we have been eating at La Vaquita restaurant.. close to the malecon good food. a little pricey maybe but the kiki shrimp was good this time..

I like El Cortez. Stayed there a few weeks ago. It is under construction but fine if you are just passing through.

The El Cortez looks nice but I was always worried about the parking because I usually have a couple bikes and riding gear in the back of the truck.

KiKi also owns the San Borja Hotel close to his other, very new and very nice. Nice pool but tight on the parking, guard on duty all night. Last time
we just got a cab to the Malacon to save trying to repark. Thanks for the advice on the Vaquita Restaurant we have been wanting to try it and now we
will..

Hotel Caribe. Short walk to the Malecone. Coffee shop next door. Interior secure parking. I have left my motorcycle there many times. Totally secure
24/7. Truck with moto also very secure. Simple, comfortable rooms. Good family run place. I keep going back and have not found a reason to go
elsewhere.

We ended up blowing right through SF and went down to Gonzaga.
Alforsinia is getting expensive. $130 for a room with 2 beds.

It's toward the big hill but not over it. Just follow the water north and you will drive past it. Turn right on the second or third street past the
end of the Malecon, go a block or two and turn left when you hit the road that parallels the water.

We paid $80/night 4-5 years ago at Alfies. Its the only game in town so i would expect them to charge whatever the tourist will pay. Its the law of
supply and demand.

One block west of the malecon, across the street from the old big blue hotel. 1 and 1/2 block south from Chetimal (the main road heading into town
from Mexicali or Ensenada). Make a right on Mar de Cortes. It is 1 and 1/2 block on your right. El Capitan is right next door too.

Rancho grande now has a few rooms at the beach. I fully expect a new hotel one of these days where "Alfies" business model will be irrelevant.

"A few rooms at the beach"
Near the palapas? Near the never to be finished restaurant? Someone had moved a good number of trailers just across the highway from the store some
time ago. Perhaps it is these that have been moved seaside?
There is also a recently constructed building behind the market that we thought looked like a small motel. Staff said it was for employee housing.
A couple of years ago, inside what was a restaurant alongside the market, hung a professionally done artist concept of development across the highway
from the market.
But first..........about the pavement????

I remember the architect's illustration for the Hotel Gonzaga (Rancho Grande) showing planes arriving/ taking off. It used to hang in the market,
above and behind the cashier. That was back in 2002.
