Graham kayaking down the east coast of Baja 2017
Most of you know of or have met our English-born Baja Nomad member Graham Mackintosh, author of 4 Baja adventure books www.grahammackintosh.com
Two years ago, Graham paddled from Gonzaga Bay to L.A. Bay, solo and that adventure was shared here: http://forums.bajanomad.com/viewthread.php?tid=80586
This year, Graham is paddling from Mulegé to Loreto and we can follow along daily as he sends up a Spot device satellite signal.
If you are camping along the coast, see him offshore, and have something cold to drink or fresh to eat, you are sure to get rewarded by Baja's
greatest true-story teller if he turns your way or beaches nearby.!

I was carrying the Survivor-35 hand pump desalinator. Dang thing must weigh about a dozen pounds but worked well and gave me gallons of drinking
water.
Way better than boiling seawater and condensing the steam. Though I had that set up as backup.
It was the second one I had. The first my wife bought for me on eBay or Amazon and I used as is... lasted for a couple of months while I was out on
Guardian Angel Island, then blew apart when I was back home and getting it ready for storage. I made a youtube about that... search for survivor-35
fails.
The model I had on this trip was reconditioned with new filter and seals, etc. It was the one that Bryan and Justin carried on their What is West Baja
walk and paddle board adventure.
They never needed it and I bought it off them after they finished their trip.
Towards the end of my journey I was using it every day and every chance I got, and often drank directly from the tube when thirsty.
That was good advice about catching the countercurrents close to shore. And for me, staying close to shore was paramount anyway. Getting hit by a
westy too far from the safety of the beach or rocks was the surest way to get myself killed.

Drove by the road into San Nicolas today and thought of Graham. Probably there tonight but I was there a bit earlier and just thought it would be a

WOW I followed his first trip and now this one NEAT!
Kinda like the guy from So Cal (IIRC) who pangaed his way around the entire perimeter many years ago.

Thanks for posting, David.
Four of us paddled in from Coronados yesterday, leaving Mulege Nov 6. We had 2 layover days for Nortes.
One day on a hike from camp, I thought of Graham and was glad we had 17' sea kayaks making 3 knots with food and 30 liters of water instead of hiking
with burros.
Puntas San Antonio and Pulpito can be "lively" in a blow.
This was the 3rd time on this stretch for me, still a favorite. Fishing was good with a yo-yo reel trolling.
I think Graham was behind us last Nov from Bla to Sta Rosalia.
I exchanged some encouraging words with Graham on FB a while back re training he was doing. Yup, it was easier doing this at 51 vs 71, but you
gotta keep the belt buckle in sight, stay in shape, and drive ahead.
