Hourly pay for unskilled labor in Mulege
I realize there are different rates for hourly worker depending on the area. I feel the hourly wages in Punta Chivato have gone way too high. Anyone
around Mulege & Santa Rosalia with a number would be helpful. I don't want to be cheap but I feel we're paying more than double here.

russ...you need to ask yourself this...
are you providing transportation to punta chivato?
not many workers live out there on the beach
they probably have to drive 60 miles a day just to get there
30 there and 30 back
lets do the math... 54 cents a mile X 60 miles = $32.40usa
then add an hourly or daily salary
it'll add up fast
it's the price of living away from a town
comparing prices in town with where you live is like comparing apples and oranges

Ok so the going rate here in La Bocana starts at 300 pesos for an 8 hour day and 550 for more experienced and one who thought himself more
experienced than all asked for 750. Our neighbor has a whole crew working at these wages. He provides beer at the end of the day and they think he
is manna from heaven.
I do believe that the local fishing plant starts at less than 300 for looooooooooong hours and no or few breaks. And if you complain, you are fired
and not allowed back. OUCH. Sure is a good incentive to go to college! It works.

Thanks all! I thought $65/hour was high and most laborers are getting $80/hour here which I thought was outrageous. Now I guess $65 alright and $80 is
very good not outrageous. I guess I'm still in the 1990's, time to wake up I guess.

Minimum wage to go from 80 to 88 pesos a day in Mexico. Blanca, I know the coop in Bocana pays some of their workers close to the minimum wage.

Russ,
we usually are at the $300 to $400 peso per day rate... some want an hourly ...
A well versed local mexican lady told us to continue this with them and if they did a good job then give them a bonus... it is more appreciated by
them....
She also said that clerks in the stores in Mulege usually get around $800 peso per week and work 6 days for that...
If we use someone with a Hacienda then the rates are higher since he is usually reporting income and paying the good ole 16% tax..
with the cost of fuel now and some groceries I am not sure how they exist on a daily basis....

Seem's a natural ... given what has been placed on the Mexican people in the last few years ... taxes, fuel costs, decreased jobs ... et al
Think you correct Russ ... 1990 is gone, and most things from that period
