November 2017 Baja Bound Articles: San Pedro Mártir and Baja wine making in the 1700s

Just published, from my October trip to the observatory:
https://www.bajabound.com/bajaadventures/bajatravel/san_pedr...

Greg Niemann also has an excellent article on the history of Baja's wines going back far beyond Guadalupe Valley: https://www.bajabound.com/bajaadventures/bajafever/thefirstc...

Nice article David, I remember seeing the big telescope still under construction in 1978. How they got the mirrors and stuff up through all that sandy Arroyo San Telmo is amazing, we got stuck several times though we didn't have 4 wheel drive.
Are the original Vitis vinifera grapes (clones) from St. Gertrudis still in production anywhere?

Good article, DK.
You may want to add that the park cabins are reserved by calling the park staff, and tele number is on the park's FB page (and cabins are bare-bones, you must bring your own bedding, and I think you may need to bring cooking gear and fuel, but not sure about fuel -- probably easier to just camp).
Also, the FB page is good place for park updates, such as closures due to snow, the cabins closed for winter, special events in the park, etc.

Woke!

“...ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country.” “My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man.”

Prefered gender pronoun: the royal we

Thank you. More details are going into the guide, including the Facebook page (I think all that may be in my latest Trip Report here on Nomad?). Here it is: https://www.facebook.com/SanPedroMartir/

Greg Niemann (author of the Santa Gertrudis wine article) is a Baja Nomad ('GregN'), so I will let him respond, or might send him a u2u, perhaps?
