Nice article David, I remember seeing the big telescope still under construction in 1978. How they got the mirrors and stuff up through all that
sandy Arroyo San Telmo is amazing, we got stuck several times though we didn't have 4 wheel drive.
Are the original Vitis vinifera grapes (clones) from St. Gertrudis still in production anywhere?

You may want to add that the park cabins are reserved by calling the park staff, and tele number is on the park's FB page (and cabins are bare-bones,
you must bring your own bedding, and I think you may need to bring cooking gear and fuel, but not sure about fuel -- probably easier to just camp).
Also, the FB page is good place for park updates, such as closures due to snow, the cabins closed for winter, special events in the park, etc.

Greg Niemann (author of the Santa Gertrudis wine article) is a Baja Nomad ('GregN'), so I will let him respond, or might send him a u2u, perhaps?
