THREE POLICEMEN GUNNED DOWN ON THE LA PAZ MALECON!!!

http://www.bcsnoticias.mx/grupo-armado-ejecuta-en-el-malecon...

Around 16:45 hours, an armed group attacked with bullets a patrol of the State Tourist Police, in the full levee of La Paz (Paseo Álvaro Obregón) and Rosales Street, which left as balance 3 elements of the corporation dead .

To the place, other elements of the State Police arrived to offer support, after receiving an emergency call from their beaten comrades; however, it was too late, since they had already been attacked and lost their lives. On the site, a paramedical unit also arrived, but withdrew after realizing that people no longer had vital signs.

Unofficially, the executed police officers have already been identified - it is presumed that one of them is the commander of the Tourist Police; According to the first versions, 2 were state elements and one more belonged to the municipal corporation, who participated in the Mixed Command.

The facts surprised the national and foreign tourists who were close to the area -which is very popular because it is the boardwalk-, and they dismayed the police officers themselves, who did not give credit for what happened.

The event, caused that the main tourist point of La Paz was closed from the street Márquez de León to the Bravo.

So far this year, around a dozen assets of different security corporations have been killed in bullet attacks, caused by alleged criminal groups.

For its part, the Attorney General of the State confirmed the triple execution of these persons; however, he did not provide more information in this regard.

The execution of these public officials is given days after the murder of the human rights holder in the entity and other elements of the Ministerial Police.

Locals in la Paz, TJ and cabo should watch the magnificent seven (the yul brinner version, not the remake). Clean up the gang/drug element using hired guns, street justice, as the military and popo don’t seem to be too enthusiastic about their job of protecting and serving the populace.

Baja population is small. Locals know who bad guys are. Popo May be visible, but they are not rounding up the bad guys, and I am sure they know who the bad guys are. Crooked cops? Disinterested cops? Cops have less power than criminals?

The Movie "The Magnificent Seven"

Is very good.

Not sure how it applies to drug dealers armed with MK-47s.

BTW, the Malecon has been all torn up wirh a project to replace the paving. It is tough to walk it, having to dodge around the barricades and dirt piles. In the midst of this a story broke about substandard concrete used, which will likely need replacement.
I talked with a tour operator who books Euro tourists into La Paz. He said
business is off by 40 percent, given travel warnings from Euro governments.

Meanwhile, Loreto seemed rather busy, especially with Mainland Mexican visitors.
Last year I rode my bike up to San Javier. There were lights and film crews working on a Novela for TV. Talking with Loreto business people, they say the Novela has boosted mainland tourist visits significantly.

I was there 2 weeks ago and that explains why there was military and policy everywhere. Sad to see, but didn't let that stop us from pursuing the outdoor market that was set up there.

There are killings daily in La Paz, CSL and SJD and other high profile leaders including prison officials, a BCS human rights leader and a Mexican tennis pro have been killed over the past few months. On BN, we have many opinions about how bad things really are and ideas about how to it better.

These two documentaries, that can be found on Netflix, partly explain the complexities of the situation.

Cartel Land is an Oscar nominated film about charismatic Mexican physician turned vigilante - Dr. Jose Manuel Mireles.

Narco Cultura illustrates the cycle of death, investigation and reach for the American Dream through celebration of the narco lifestyle.

The devastation caused by drug use will not be resolved here nor in my home town. Mainland business has taken hold of Baja. My purpose here is not to warn people off Baja, but rather to help with understanding what has lead to the violence. Like many others, we drove down to the tip of Baja and winter in safety while we live out our Mexican dream. What is the answer? Build strong communities and loving families. Drug use thrives in poverty, trauma and boredom.
