Fishing In Baja Used to be like this.
Fantastic fishing.They must not have the trawlers here. Looks like a lot of catch and release also.

Certainly releasing some grouper types that had to be good eating. Good on 'em, for the releases.
Lots of extremely large jacks and some fish that look like REALLY fat wahoo. What are those?

fishing in Baja is still like that. you just watched a highlight reel for 2017. you don't think those and many more moments like those occurred up and
down Baja in 2017. granted ... my favorite spot in Baja has been off for a couple years.... but ive seen it come and go over my 25+ years of fishing
there.
my friends NOB don't even ask me to fish here anymore...... My response for 20 years or so has been ... yea, lets go to mexico.

Fishing like that made Punta Chivato. The camping beach was literally packed along the water front then. Now there are few beach campers, if any, as
the fishery has deteriorated. Yes, there are days that the few diehards have a good day just not everyday. Yesterday there were only 5 shrimp boats
anchored off Shell Beach (near me) and no seiners. This summer there were only a few days where I would see the sardine boats and nothing like the 20
plus boats that swarmed the bay only a few years ago. Most pongas have gone to nets now, leaving fewer fish for the shore fishermen & women. Like
the number of big net boats there are few pongas now and there have been days where the shore fishing has been productive at a few beaches. But just
being out and wetting a line is a reward of it's own just the expectations are lower to bring home dinner.

Reading the different replies on this makes me a bit sad as I see pictures all the time with people obviously catching more fish than they need and
then wondering why the fishing is deteriorated. I guess it depends if you are sport fishing or fishing for food but either way, if you over fish you
know what will happen eventually.

I got three bites on four casts this morning. I lost two lures, and broke one reel. I just smiled and called it a good day. Sometimes, the fish
win.

Or if you see a guy doing that, call him a sissy and jump in to fish by rapidly snapping your jaws together. That's the way the real mensches do it

This is the way REAL men like me fish for crabs,
I shave one half of the hair off one side of my genitalia,
I then the light the side with hair on it, on fire,
as the crabs run to the bald side, I stab them with an ice pick.

If you already have crabs, there's no need to fish for them.
