Yellowtail Bonanza in Bahia Asuncion!

After winds from hell for 3 days, the weather gods smiled upon us and brought us back some summer with light breezes and air temps in the 80's....which must have pleased the fish Gods as the yellowtail bite was wide open right in front of our Inn. Forgive the fish porn...

The next day the boys did very well too....lots of vacuum packing to do!

Nothing was wasted....the boys took home lots of fish for their familes and friends to enjoy over the holiday season and also gave away lots of fish here in the village for which people are very grateful. We ate sashimi, seared and mako steaks and I smoked the bellies and collars. The dogs and cat & some gulls ate the trimmings, and the carcasses were used to bait the lobster traps so everyone was happy!

Amigos John and his son John Jr. love to fish with Juan and fish they did till thier arms could jig no more. But they had some very good karma coming their way this trip.

Return guests often ask what they can bring us and apart from a few things like pickles & whipping cream, they agreed to bring down a new puppy...wow I was impressed they accepted the mission!

Last week our loyal old shepherd Shami went on to her next mission which left our other dog Cafe very sad and lonely. A few days later, Juan's cousin in El Rosario posted a picture of a puppy that had been abandoned and it was love at first sight.

The only problem was how to get the dawg down to us. John accepted this mission with gusto and also fell in love with this little sweety on the road. She is very wise for her tender age, calm, sweet and very social...but the most captivating thing about her are her blue/white eyes! When my sister saw the photo she called her a goat dog so we named her Chiva! Welcome to the familia Chivita!

The new puppy looks happy!
It's great to see great fishing. I admire you guys, Juan follows the rules, and other captains are more than happy to take your customers and fish over limits. You have a lot of patients when dealing with these guys and the captains. Good for you and Juan being the better persons.

Hey Shari;

Damn good fishing there. Fish porn is good. I guess you have been around enough to know that you can never tell what is going to bite on any given year.

Thank God for the pacific yellowtail!

The first mako I had was at your place, delicious.

That puppy is so cute.

that was the first time I tried it too and could not believe how insanely great it was..like butter! We have some marinating right now to BBQ later....why dont you come over for dinner...jajaja

Thanks MMc...it is really tough to put the brakes on anglers when the bite is hot and they want to fill the boat...but we do it and have lost several clients because of that...ni modo.
