The food recommendations being given to you here are pretty poor. Restaurants mentioned ain’t much to write home about.
If leaving from San Diego, I suggest you pick up banh mi sandwiches and fresh spring roles from one of the joints on El Cajon Blvd (most open at 600
am) and then picnic in the desert. |
I live in City Heights so know exactly what your talking about

Vietnamese food is the best, no other cuisine compares.
Banh mi and a few sides like spring roles, my travel food of choice, whether car trip or airplane.
Sometimes on our car camping trips we get party platters to go for first-night late arrival at camp sites.
Woke!

Never travel in Baja without car snacks....
Various types of cheeses, crackers, tins of smoked clams and sardines, Pacifico.....and don't forget the goldfish crackers (COSTCO size)

My road trip snacks usually look like they were bought by a 10 year old kid with a hundred dollar bill....

Cowpatty info
A quaint open air cantina in Baja. There is no electricity in this area so Richard has developed a solar and wind generator system. Propane and solar
keeps the fridges and stoves going. Truly a labor of determination to have this place open. The clean restroom is a nice find in the middle of the
desert. A welcome stop for travelers headed south and locals who gather for cold beverages, hot dogs and good company.
Our bartender, Memo, is fluent in Spanish and English and is always ready with a smile and a "Don't worry, Be Happy". We welcome your comments and
hope you share your photos when you stop by. Closed on Monday and Tuesdays!
