Kind of interesting, for me as the author... and a good deal for you, the reader!

My book, 'Baja California Land of Missions' ©2016 continues to sell and the U.S. distributor (besides what we as publisher sell here and there) has requested another large order of my books, which will require a FIFTH PRINTING!

We print 100-250 at a time for three reasons. Our target market is small (but could be bigger), the cost is substantial to us and distributors do not pay publishers until books are sold by their customers and a check comes to us twice a year for the fraction of the book's retail price. That's just the way it works with so many hands in the cookie jar.

Amazon and Barnes & Noble online both sell my book as does Sunbelt Books in El Cajon at their bookstore. Other bookstores and gift shops have them as well. Discover Baja Travel Club was the first distributor and Mission San Luis Rey Gift shop was the second. Cameron Steele purchased two cases of my book to give one to each vehicle on the Trail of Missions TV Show Tour the past two years. My previous book on all the California missions (Baja & Alta) was included in the first two tours (2014, 2015).

The book was first published in February 2016 with 200 copies and that was increased to 250. They sold fast!

The next printing was needed and was in May 2016 for another 250, as more and more distributors in the Southwest and Mexico learned of the book.

The Third Printing came in January 2017 for 100 copies. I was able to make a few update notes in this printing and fix a couple typos, etc.

A fourth printing occurred in August 2017 for another 100. Having been taking new mission photos while researching the Baja Bound Guidebook, I slipped a couple 2017 photos and notes in.

700 copies of Baja California Land of Missions in the hands of Baja travelers, history enthusiasts, or on bookshelves in stores and that is great!

PRINTING FIVE in 2018, will have more photos taken in 2017 and current road directions since I traveled to nearly 30 mission sites this last year!

On the back cover, three book and magazine authoring Nomads gave very nice reviews, Greg Niemann, Graham Mackintosh, and George Bergin (Osprey)...

Come to The Campo de Cahuenga Reenactment this Sunday 11:30 and we will be selling and signing our books (Max Kurillo and I). I plan to offer a big 30%+ discount on my book for anyone that shows up for one! Other books for sale too, and historic bells! Details on Facebook: www.favcebook.com/olmmissions

David,

Just curious why you don't sell these direct to this forum? No middleman.

I do: www.oldmissions.com (and I sign each one). The link is in my signature and most everywhere I mention my book.
