A great idea willardguy - do you mean the palapas, or are there other rentals?

thanks for the suggestions.

A house on the beach would be better.

rental replies

Yes, a house would be preferred. These look like the ones that were up by the highway a year or two ago. Are they north of the still unfinished restaurant or did they replace several palapas to the south?

Fact of the matters is that my wife and I intend to camp but daughter & husband prefer more "civilized" amenities.

they're south of the restaurant site where palapa #1 was. obviously a house would be preferable but its rare to find someone to rent out their off-grid home, but.......good luck!

This is not far from the La Poma Restaurant (Km. 133.5), which is very good food!

That pic of the "houses" is truly depressing. Is that how they actually are situated or are they just there stored to be moved?

On the beach side across from Rancho Grande there are a couple of old trailers that Rancho Grande Market rents out starting at 600 mxn/night. They're pretty crappy and some don't have refrigerators. The palapas on the beach rent around 125 mxn/night (at least I was told that). I was NOT impressed with Gonzaga and everything seemed overpriced since there is so little there. I turned around and went back towards San Felipe.

Next time, look at Campo Beluga, Km. 149 + 2 miles in.

Mary don't judge a book by it's cover or lack there of. Gonzaga offers several places to stay, hotel, the trailers and cottages. Also several places to camp. There are many things to see and do. Fishing, exploring and just site seeing. Several mines, an onyx field, an orchard of bent palm trees, the El Camino Real Trail up to Mission Santa Maria. While the rooms at Alfonsina's are on the high side the food is excellent as is Papa Fernandez place. You can always drop by Coco's for a cold drink and say Hi a little further down the road.
