Ojo de Liebre- more than whales
Yes- the whales are memorable. But many of my favorite images from this lagoon are of the sky and shoreline. A few examples:
1) Low tide: a group of whale watchers, walking in from the end of the pier (February, 2015- before the new dock was constructed)

that was the best storm I have weathered at the lagoon and it was awesome....and so cool you were there to share it with!
You are so right that there is so much more magic than just whales there...the birds are amazing, the coyotes entertaining as are the interesting
stories from the world travelers who camp there...not to mention the insane sunrised and sunsets

The camping cabins at the lagoon are another reason to make the trek there. It would be an awesome experience to veg out for a few days there.

My favorite is the last one - large, set on a cliff over looking an inlet. You can spot whales from there - hiking trails, beachcombing. There are
some palapas that offer shelter from the wind closer to the panga launch area and restaurant. The camping sites are specifically designated.

1) Don't use Photobucket... I have shared so many times how easy and free Postimages.org is.
2) Pay the minimum fee for your Photobucket account. I think the watermark is for those who did not go from the free level to the pay level ($50/
year?)

I am asking because it could be a result of climate change...
And maybe time for another "Save the Whales" movement.
Maybe the low and sick whale count is like a really big "Canary in a Coalmine"...

Just saw this question from last year.
The simple answer is: I don't use PhotoBucket.
I use an old Flickr account I created years ago, and now keep primarily to upload photos to this forum.

Wilderone, what do you mean by "the camp sites are specifically designated"? Does one need reservations to camp? Do they assign the palapas? If the
palapas are full, can one camp anyway?

Re camping. The camp sites are numbered, with places to park, lots of signs to camp only in designated camp sites. Once you pay at the gate, you
just pick one - palapas or otherwise - all the same. So delineated campsites, but not assigned. There are a few palapas, but many more without.
When the wind is howling, a palapa is nice, but I prefer the view from the cliff, and proximity to the channel that fills with water at high tide and
can go swimming. There are bathroom pit toilets, and trash cans for organic & recycle and fire rings. I don't think you can make reservations.
I've never been there where I was not able to get a camp site.
My favorite campsite in all of Baja – shhhh don’t tell anyone!!
