Monday, I was on a bluff in Palos Verdes and while enjoying a cigar and a nice whiskey it started hailing . Imagine my surprise..

Made for a great sunset.

It dropped to minus 6 at Truckee, and the snow pack is on track to match or set a record low amount for the Donner Summit area!

The endless summer ended! I lost 4 bean plants Monday night, 26 degrees here in Encinitas (way down low). Sweet peas made it! Bird bath froze, birds played hockey out there. Last night a little cloud cover warmed things up a few degrees. Come on cold--- my apples could use some COLD!!!!

Yeah, I grew up in Minnesota's north woods and am just unable to complain about a little frost here.

Tell me about it. It got up to 74 here on Tuesday. Today there's a good chance of snow.

Of my thirty five years in Alaska, three were spent working for Sohio at Prudhoe Bay. I once had to build a deck, and weather protection for the pipefitters at -56F (that's -48C Ged)!

Did you know that nails, and hand tool can break at that temperature?

By the way, the fahrenheit and Celsius scales cross at -40!
