Brush Up On Your History


These men were Irish immigrants who were dragooned into the U.S. army and used like slaves. The U.S. government at that time was of the opinion that the Irish were less than human. They were not given citizenship and treated like cannon fodder.

The Mexican government offered them citizenship and land grants.

Many of those of the members of the San Patricio Brigade survived to prosper in their ranchos south of the border.

There are many red-haired, blue or green-eyed, white-skinned Mexicans today.
