Don't think anyone's answered you yet. There is no ATM in Asuncion. The nearest is the Bancomer in Vizcaino (1:15-ish), then the Banamex in Guerrero Negro (2 hours).

The ATM situation isn't great in central Baja, but it certainly beats the idea of toting around enough cash for an extended stay (e.g. several months),

I think that's especially true for people like us who don't own property here and need to pay for rent or motel rooms.

The opposite is true. It is more important for the people who live and work here. Where do you think they get their money? Home ownership is not free.

El Progreso is our cannery / fishing cooperative here in La Bocana. I don't know what the one in Abreojos is called.
