Guadalupe Valley Camping
Anyone stayed at Rancho Sordo Mundo? We are thinking of heading back from San Felipe to Tecate and staying a couple of days there to enjoy the
wineries.

I did a Nomad search for "sordo mundo" and got several hits but mostly people asking (like you) and one (Dennis) giving a web address for it (it was a
dead site). No first-hand references.

We have camped there. The restrooms and showers are not working so you have to be self contained. You can either check in at the gate to the school or
if you pull in there someone will come by.

Rancho Sordo Mudo is an orphanage and school for special needs kids. Sordo means deaf/ mudo means speech impaired.
It is a Christian organization founded by Ed and Margaret Everett. I visited them several times way back....
The little RV park is across the highway and not much in the way of amenities, but it is there. We spent a couple nights there a few years back. The
bathrooms and showers were locked but there was one hose with a bit of pressure so we just hosed off each evening behind the bathroom building.
The place is located just a mile north of the main town, just before you get to LA Cetto.

Rancho Sordo Mudo
Kind of rustic. Good location for checking out the Valle. Checked it out a couple of weeks ago. Has about 20 pull through dirt spaces, no tables but
some shade. Talked to a couple of campers there. Water and 50/30/10 amp power at each site. Supposedly clean restrooms with hot showers. No sewer, but
a dump station. Covered group area with tables.......200 pesos per nite. I have some photos I can e-mail you
If you do stay there, check out Malagon winery, and if you get a chance eat a late lunch or dinner, try La Esperanza (our favorite), just off the
highway at the entrance to L.A. Cetto

Disclaimer:.....I have not stayed at the campground, but I have visited Malagon and La Esperanza.....many times. If you do the tasting at L.A. Cetto,
spend the extra $$ and do the boutique selections
