Ensenada: Recommendation for Cheap Hotel Downtown

I'm visiting Ensenada for the first time this coming weekend and would like recommendations for a one night stay. Most of the hotels listed online are $60+ and booked but I'm sure there are cheaper options for hotels that are not listed online. Anybody have any recommendations? I'd rather stay close the downtown area where there are bars/restaurants within walking distance.

Thanks.

The days of cheap Mex have for the most part, is
a thing of the past, like decent, less than $40 rooms. Ensenada,
especially on the weekends, can be full and charge
weekend rates. Some campgrounds are $40.
Never stayed there, it is popular, a place called
Motel America, 3-4 blks. so. of the center. Do a search
for your ?, it has been asked before here

Never stayed there, but Hotel Sausalito looks have way okay and is $42/night.

Hotel Marina Coral is the best hotel in Ensenada.

I have used AirBnB in Baja with good results and lower prices than hotels AND most accept pets.

I like the one across from Hotel Marina Coral, $ 40, and like $ .75 into dt on bus or $ 3 uber.

Downtown Ensenada is not a desirable place to be. Noise, bars, hookers, hotels by the hour. Unless you are looking for this exactly experience.

Like others noted, weekend rates are often higher - can be twice higher than midweek. I would also suggest asking on Ensenada Tripadvisor chat room.

The cheapest place that I have seen is on the outskirts of town, The Cowboy motel. They rent by the hour

We almost always stay downtown and ask for a back room. I love to walk down the streets and window shop, Les can be at an outside table with his beer people watching too.

Places on outskirts, like Chapultepec, Cipres etc sometimes have hotels by the hour if it's on the beach. Otherwise, a cheap hotel there 15 minutes walk from the beach costs under $25-30 midweek. Mexico under $40 still exists, just not for tourists that want to be close to all the action.

I like that funky place on the beach on the right coming into town. Hotel California or something...
