The Comondus is an interesting journey in itself. Old Californio ranchos - very hospitable folks. Some pictographs, habitation sites along the way, El Horno. The wine making at San Miguel. El Camino Real parallels the road for quite a while. Take your time and appreciate the history.

San Jose de Magdelena has a fantastic little museum...the best graveyard in all Baja and an amazing arroyo where water runs all the time....a real river! Well worth the detour off the highway!

I second the Comondus too...my personal favorite, and SAn Borja in second place.

Backpack the SPM, climb a few of the peaks.

Do multi day pack trip to see canyons and rock paintings of sierra de san francisco.

I'm gonna come see you soon. Will bring my 2 kids. We haven't ridden any of that part of Baja.

Let's say 2-3 days of ridding. Two days travel for us from LA and back.

Where will you take us? What's your recommended ride(s)?

We are in Calabasas, just above Malibu.

They are 14 and 16 and have been riding for about 8 years. Pretty skilled.

If the gates are not locked the No Wimp Trail.

Run out to Timbabichi and run up and down the coast.

You could do the Pole Line Road with Ken Cooke but it's slow running with 4 wheelers. You could team up with Bajatrailrider and/or ehall and do it on bikes only, make it a loop out of Cohabuso Jct.

Do the Guajademi Trail from San Isidro to Mulege but you may need to bulldog your bikes down part of the mountain if it's not open. Make a loop from San Isidro toward Mulege then down the San Raymundo arroyo back to the coast north of San Juanico.

Follow the San Felipe 250 race course from Hwy 5 KM233 north to the south end of Laguna Salada then back south to the Borrego crossing at Hwy 3 KM179. Instead of going to Hwy 3 at KM179 take the loop around C. el Arrajal and back to Hwy 3 at KM160.

Have you been up or down the La Rumorosa dirt road that parallels Hwy 2 down the mountain?

The possibilities are endless.

Ok I lived in Rancho park W LA still have 4 income homes there. As ride with me its safety first I find even on hard single track slow speeds no injured riders. While hi speed dirt road big time wrecks. So as long as your Boys ride to live another day all good.:)

90% chance I'm going to run Timbabichi the last week in August. Mapped it all out. Read your trip reports from a few years back and I'm pumped about it.

Tell me about La Rumorosa.

I've been down it 3 or 4 times over the years, always interesting with a great view. Here are some pictures I took going down and posted on Nomad. You don't want to go off the side. It has been used in several Baja 500 and 1000 SCORE races.
