Concurso de Paellas 2018

Anyone attending this years event? Looks like the weather will be moderate considering it is August.

We will be going. Be nice to meet other "nomads." Look for a fat gringo drinking canned IPAs. While a fat gringo might not stand out, the canned IPA will. :bounce:

Although not our preferred holding and delivery continer for hopped barley water, aluminum cans are very practical on road trips.

Event is in el Valle de Guadalupe, at the winery, Viña de Liceaga.

Cabalgata and Concurso de Paellas

75 riders, 5 hours in the arroyo, beach and hills near to La Mision.

Sunday was the Concurso de Paellas 2018
This was the second time visiting this event. The first time we went was the very first event in 1990 when there were 4 entries and a handful of wineries. In this years event there were 94 paella contestants and over 50 wineries represented. The Valley has changed over these last 40 years.
We had a great time.

We went to the event and had a great time sampling some of the paella and the wine. Lots of music and so many people (told that 5k+ tickets sold) having a good time. A place in the shade was a bonus. We are already making plans for next year and want to include some other Vendimia events. Sorry we missed you Don Jorge.

Friday night we went to a wine and food event at Finca Altozano and made some new friends and had a memorable time.

Lots of changes in the Valle indeed.
