Vagabundos

not having been a member in many years I was surprised to get an email offering a free one year membership.....regardless here's something from their hotbox everyone (that uses Tecate) should be aware of.

WARNING: When exiting Mexico out of Tecate the last right turn there is a stop light. A stop sign has been placed at the stop light and everyone must stop at the stop sign even if the stop light is green. I received a ticket for not stopping at the stop sign even when the stop light was green.

David....if the approach to the gate is from more central Tecate and south of the plaza park..... and then along the railroad tracks E/B, and leading to MX 2 libre eastbound.......there is a right turn there with a stop sign. It's the one where a driver has to rack his neck, to see back W/B for approaching east bound traffic.
A new signal I am clueless....if that is what the OP had relayed.

Well, where ever in Tecate this is, it is clear, if you see a stop sign: STOP!

Well, except that it is common in Mexico for a traffic light to be added to an intersection, and the former stop sign is never removed. I guess that wasnt park of the install contract.

Yet the stop sign, rightfully, is ignored. The traffic light takes precedent.

Sure, and as in most cases when in Rome...

Tecate has a reputation for ticketing gringos over all sorts of special rules that don't apply to others... like a dog in the back seat not wearing a seatbelt, etc.

I drove through Tecate twice (Aug 15 southbound, Aug 18 northbound) and saw no mix of stop signs with signals. I didn't even see a police officer. I guess I just live right?

Why do you delete half the posts you make WillardGuy.

You posted after DK last night and now it's gone.

I've noticed you doing this about 50 times.

Willardguy, I also occasionally delete my own posts for the same reasons, and wish more people would do the same. The fact that nobody seems to have noticed my deletions means I have made the right calls! This post will probably join the other deletions after a while.

Meanwhile, I am waiting for the challenge to your posting a 'second hand report'! A helpful warning is not enough, we need names, dates, GPS coordinates, and photos if you've got them! :P

Nothing wrong with removing posts that no longer serve a purpose or have been quoted, to "clean-up" a thread. I was quoted twice in this thread, so I just now deleted the two replies I made. Less mumbo-jumbo to read through can be a good thing!
