Thanks for posting the link to the story. The author was a really nice guy and had a great time fishing with my better half Francisco.
They told me that they'd send me an issue but the mail system is so slow, I haven't seen it yet.
Any way someone headed through Loreto can get me an issue? It will be worth a free t-shirt!

Interesting...but be careful!!
I enjoyed the article but I have to say, the driving description part could lead a Baja newbie to think that Highway #1 is some E-ticket ride at
Disneyland...as most nomads would chime in on this point...driving at high speeds and at night, as the opening of the article suggests, are breaking
two of the road's golden safety rules...don't forget all those roadside shrines do represent other travelers who weren't so fortunate.
Anyway, interesting adventure but "Cuidado"...I think many of us know too many sad stories that started with a bad case of driving bravado!!

I'd say the 200 pesos the author spent to get out of the speeding ticket was well spent. I got a ticket last week and it cost me 600 pesos to pay it
legally at the police station. Still a hell of alot cheaper than a ticket in the states

As far as driving 105mph on the hwy and 80 in the dirt, I think he had one too many of the 40 oz ones and it clouded his memory. Of course I could be
wrong and if so it won't be long till he's another flower set on the side of the road.

While Baja's main appeal is testing one's mettle on kayaks and surfboards, the nerve required to drive south for a week on a 70-mile-wide spit of land
can't be overstated.
Which is why the first question I invariably get when I stop at a beachside campsite is, "How deep are you going?"

I personally know Porter Fox and can tell you he does'nt have enough eggs to let his car loose on the 405 let alone 105 on hwy 1. He is soo full of
himself. He did'nt make it to Cabo on this trip either but if I had not known him the story would have been just good, not great. I think people on
this forum have much better stories than this cheese****!
