Central Baja is abuzz with Rosa reports and people preparing for possible flooding, winds and a big a$$ swell. Yes it is very rare for hurricanes to
hit here but it has happened...so best to expect the worst and be ready for it just in case.
The fishing coops will be pulling the boats out extra high this time. Unfortunately our lobster season was to begin on Sunday...not gonna happen!
But if you plan to travel through northern or centra Baja please keep posted on Rosa....oh and dont cross any running arroyos!

I just looked at the 8am forecast track and it has changed a bit. Downgraded to a storm well off the coast now and has move a bit north. Still can't
get photobucket to copy downloads to post so go to ebbmike.co and check it out.

Since an eyewall replacement cycle is ongoing, Rosa is no longer
expected to intensify. In the short term, some additional
weakening is likely, typical of major hurricanes undergoing eyewall
replacements. If this process completes within the next 24 hours,
there will be some opportunity for the hurricane to re-intensify
while the shear is low and the hurricane remains over warm SSTs.
However, steady weakening is anticipated beginning Saturday night
since the cyclone is forecast to cross over much cooler SSTs. By 96
h, a weaker Rosa will likely approach the northern west coast of
the Baja California peninsula and the resulting interaction with
land will likely cause the cyclone to dissipate. It is worth
noting that a farther northwest track would likely result in Rosa
weakening faster than currently indicated, while a farther
southeast track could allow Rosa to maintain a slightly stronger
circulation as it crosses the northern Gulf of California.

we are all breathing a bit easier today with the downgrade of wave & wind heights...and lots of jokes around town about we probably will only get

Windy.com shows rain and wind in BA on Oct 1-2. About 5 or 10mm rain accumulation in 5 days, depends on what model you click on. Same for BOLA.
The system began deteriorating earlier yesterday and was further downgraded overnight. It might still spike up a little, eeb/NOAA is talking about
possible re-intensifying if you read their report.

It was actually the flash floods attributed to a chubasco that messed up the town and Hwy. 5. It was a big deal and I do recall kids at school (3rd or
4th grade) talking about it (Baja was popular where I went to school).
