Thanks for posting it. Looks like they found a way to connect with the Laguna Chapala-Punta Vibora road without going all the way to the coast. Laguna Chapala is the furthest-south crossing of Highway 1.

Some nice areas, I like it. I may have to do some pre or post running on sections of the course. The area at RM560 is a ranch with a locked gate other than for the race they may not let anyone thru. From RM380 to RM480 looks like fun.

Here's a map of the '15 Baja 1000 - the Pacific coast section west of CataviƱa/Chapala is similar to this year's course. Granted this was three years ago, but the white dots on this map leaving Punta Blanca were known nasty silt beds.

I will bet there will be some course changes following a review after Rosa's damage.

B1k Results
Lots of speculating on class results before the race as to which class should be the fastest - now resolved.
The TT specs did better than 10 Not generally predicted
The Best UTV was slightly slower that the first C1 and ahead of the 2nd C1, Faster than C10, Faster than half the TT Spec field.
For sure teh UTVs has gotten much faster as of late.
I am amazed at the performance of the mentioned classes.
Maybe SCORE needs to re-think the class starting order.

Congrats to Justin Morgan on the OA/OA. It's been a while since the bikes beat the Trophy Trucks. The course must have been more technical than I first thought.

Bikes have usually been the fastest, overall winner. Only when there was a lot of pavement (and no speed limit) could the V-8 racers of folks like Parnelli Jones or Walker Evans turn in faster times than the unlimited bikes. We are talking ancient history, lol.

In Off Road Racing, you are competing only with others in your class. The Trophy Trucks are typically the fastest four wheel class but Class 1 may get ahead in time. There are many motorcycle classes.
Other than for bragging rights, there is no extra award for beating another class... just the prize for winning your own class.
