Bajaguy and his donation!
Bajaguy contacted me when he arrived in Ensenada with the grand news that he had school supplies for me! The wife of the president of our local
cooperative offered to meet up, get the supplies and send them down to La Bocana.
They got here last week!
So, I decided to start basic English with the 8th graders at the middle school. They don't know any English at all because I did not teach last
year...I just can't see anyone doing well if they don't have at least the BASIC knowledge...so off I went!
Each one got 3 index cards (also donated by a good friend not on nomad) with verbs to memorize, each one got a pencil and a new notebook with the
instruction to write clearly, carefully and to hold onto the notebook until they went to college since English will not change from now to then LOL
The goal is for them to realize that I believe in them, that they should be thinking of college already. This year marks the first where there are
more kids whose families are NOT part of the fishing cooperative than kids whose families are. Times are going to be tough for the school. On the
plus side, classes are a perfect size this year !! 7th grade has 15 kids and 8th has 18.
Here is a copy of one student's notes for that first day.
THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE DONATION.

Blanca, no problem. I really appreciate what you do with your local kids. Sorry there wasn't more but our car was packed for the Baja trip. I don't
think I could have added one more pencil.

Retiring is for people who have/had jobs. I do not know Blanca but I think in her case it wasn´t just a job. Vocation comes to mind.
Well done Blanca(oh and bajaguy)!

Thanks all!
I love what I do and I was so happy to get the absolute perfect donation to allow me to teach the 8th graders.
