Baja 1000 (almost) cancelled due to ecological damage
Due to ecological damage, the Baja 1000 has been suspended across the states of Baja California Norte and Sur.

Reportedly the race guys need to pay a fine to remove the suspension ...don't know if that solves the eco concerns.

Am I to assume that you and Kayne West have both taken leave of your senses? Your post is illogical, unfounded speculation and comes off as if you
were babbling. Please calm down, come back to planet earth and state your case rationally. Remembering that the climate is not on trial here, the
right of people to destroy the environment and walk away is.

You seem to follow Karl Marx and Lenin with the notion that if you repeat a lie enough times, it will become the truth?
If the race is canceled, it will be an economic disaster to all in Mexico who usually benefit and plan their lives for it. Damage to roads, while
real, are minuscule to the damage done by Nature.

Econ activity is good, but i recommend the econ activity be green (no nuke repositories, no wanton strip mining, no destructive events like racing,
etc)
The hurricane is part of desert cycle of life, the rain will help the plants grow, hopefully help the plants barely hanging on to life due to last
race!

So the building of Highway 1 through Baja was very wrong... because millions of desert trees were mowed down? The benefit of an event means nothing?

Every year there is some sort of "crisis" at the 11th hour of the Baja 1000. Like very year in the past, it will be resolved.
Not worth all the hand-wringing.

Off road racing is designated as the primary sport and resource for Baja. Successful racing events are among the highest priorities as a draw for
tourism and overall economy. People are going to get hurt, and there will be damage to the flora and fauna. Baja doesn't have many other products
besides racing. If you go to almost any town there are racing enthusiasts and shops up and down the street of an otherwise desolate region with no
manufacturing and no products. Apparently racing is a big deal to Baja.

Do you have any references? I'd guess that compared to the overall economy, the money brought in by off-road racing is a drop in the bucket.

Primary resource for Baja...Now that is a new one that we will have to educate all the farmers with.

You mean mostly the fat cats that set up the the terrain erosion event, and perhaps a few Mexican shops that sell cheap souvenirs, and a few tacos.
That's hardly everybody in all of Mexico.
Whatever money the event makes, pales in comparison, to the environmental damage the event does to the ecosystem, the flora, and fauna, not to mention
the animal mortality, and all the garbage left behind by the race, alone with the noise pollution.
Somehow Mexico, will survive without the race.
