Trail of Missions - question
We watched the show a little while ago and the route they used from Mike's Sky Ranch to Meling Ranch - was it recognizable? Which way did they go, if
you know?
We didn't pick up the dates of the event, know when it was run?
Thanks
John M

At first it looked like the hill directly behind Mike's. The little shelfs they had to climb looked familiar. Got lost after that.

They went the regular (and now only) way, passing by El Coyote. It is not advisable unless you are lifted and have spotters. Big rocks to drive and
scrape over!
The route they used is the road with mileages along it (from my 2005 trip)... There is one small detour where I have drawn in "4.5"... That was as far
as I got last year (from El Coyote) before my brake failure.

Has anyone taken the road straight north out of coyote. I did it in 2015 and it was good rockcrawling.

Last year, it was blocked off and they actually plowed the field and erased the road. I think Michael Diogo may have a single track to get to it, so
ask him maybe? The last AAA map only shows that road and not the one we have usually used, which is shorter... The now closed one is the one with 11.5
mi along it...

David. Also one time at coyote I went thru the corral just north of the ranch and connected with that road. It has all probably changed since then.

Simpson's?
Is what used to be called the "Simpson's Ranch Road" beginning at mile 3.2 on David's map still usable as a route to or from Mikes from Valle de
Trinidad?

The route they most likely took from Mike's to El Coyote was the same as SCORE used in the 2013 B1K and the 2017 and 2018 Baja 500 races. here a
Google Earth overlay of all three.
Here is the 2013 B1K in yellow so DK can see it better.

Maybe it was just the way the course was when they went over it in there super duty Raptors but if all the various race vehicles including a class 11
VW can do it, it can't be too bad, slow maybe but doable.

Thanks Tom, we color-blind Nomads appreciate the yellow over red or green!
Does anyone know how the road is down to Simpson's Ranch (John M asked)?

Last time I was at Coyote Mike said the Simpson road was destroyed by weather and it was unlikely to be repaired. No update since last winter.
