Baja Rescue Dogs

We lost our two dogs about 16 months ago (old age for one, and cancer for the other -- both within a month of each other  ) We had the best dog sitter.. she made our dogs part of her family. When she was boarding them, we'd get random texts from her telling us that her husband got kicked out, and both of our dogs were sleeping in his spot in the bed. They had it better there than at our home!!

Anyway, we got a text from her a couple weeks ago: "Is it time???". Included were pictures of two super cute little black lab (mix) puppies that she has been fostering. They were super cute and very well behaved -- according to her. They are a brother and sister, and were rescued from Rosarito a few weeks ago, were completely flea and tick ridden, and were going through some cycles of antibiotics. Anyway, they were ready to find their new home, and she thought of us. After about 3 and a half seconds of thought, the wife and I decided that the kiddos would LOVE to have puppies, and we wanted to have dogs around again.

So, ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce to you.. Rosa and Rito. They are amazing dogs so far. They are easily trainable, great with our kids (and our 2 month old), and love to play.

Excellent! Really glad you got some awesome new family members!

My wife Deb & I work with a Mexican rescue in San Quintin and transport adoptable dogs to shelters in San Diego. It's awesome to see "our" dogs go to forever homes!

Refugio para Mascotas Good Boy in San Quintin

Barking Lot in El Cajon

Working on getting some dogs to Rescuing Cujo in Jamul is our lastest project - hope to possibly get 6 more before the end of the year.

We did add Lily to our pack...

Lily is a stunner! Is she part Australian Cattle Dog? Our dog Tito, featured in my avatar, is part ACD, part American Eskimo Dog, adopted from Australian Cattle Dog rescue.

Lily has certainly got a big ACD influence. She gets along real well with our Queensland Raea.

Pics are somewhat deceiving as Lily is 28 lbs & Raea is 40 lbs.

Tito's mother is this Blue Heeler named "Betty". She, Tito and Tito's littermate Merlin were all dumped at a shelter in Virginia in 2012 and scooped up by Austrailian Cattle Dog rescue a few days later, where they were all fostered until they found homes.

I'd love to bring home a Baja dog. On our trips we carry dog treats and make many friends . . .

There are many rescues in Baja that would be more than happy to adopt a dog to you, since there are so many that need a home.

OMG - those puppies are adorable!

Baja Dogs La Paz also does an amazing job rescuing and fostering dogs in the La Paz area. We adopted our great baja dog, Sam, from them.

When our dog Luci passed last year I was against getting another one right away but Deb persuaded me to at least "look" at some pups about a 3 hour drive away. We came home with Raea and I didn't realize at the time what a blessing she is. Now we've added Lily to our pack.

Do you have prospects for a new pet down your way? If not I can get one sent down or even if I bring it myself!

Roman at Refugio para Mascotas has at least 120 dogs with probably 40 being puppies 6 months or less in age.

Are these the dogs that go to San Diego? I bet they get snapped up fast.

We will arrange to transport 6 dogs one month after they've had their rabies shot as ICE requires - hopefully get it set up between Good Boy and a shelter here in San Diego county before year's end. The adoption rate is very good for the Mexican pups up here.

Parvo weeds out many of the pups unfortunately. Our dog Lily was in a litter of 8 and she was one of the 3 that survived. It's really tough when you have a lot of pups and no semi-sanitary pens to keep them in. They are starting to build concrete enclosures that can be sanitized and hopefully save more pups. All it takes is $$.
