Fog flashers
Driving north on Mex 1 Sunday I encountered dense fog for the first time starting at the Punta Abreojos turn off. Lasted over ten miles. I did not
know until then that in Baja you turn on your flashers in the fog. Who knew?

I dont get it. If its daytime turn on head lights. If its nighttime your headlights are on. Flashers are not brighter than head lights if your concern
is someone else seeing your vehicle.

I've driven through very heavy fog early AM going north from G Negro. Turn on the headlights to low beam.

Amber light will cut the fog much better than white light. Maybe the clown that is barreling down on you will see you a few seconds early.

LOL I wasn't talking about what we do in the USA, of course low beams or fog lights are better. I'm talking about what the locals did while driving
in BCS in the fog. I noticed that all of the Mexico plated vehicles had their flashers on. Kinda like putting on a left turn signal when it's safe
to pass. It was simply an observation and it surprised me that flashers were used in the fog.

Personally, in fog I do both.
However, I see no reason for a flasher to work in the fog.... whatever he's flashing will be obscured by the mist. tsk tsk. JJJ wouldn't see a
thing.

California vehicle law says flashers are only legal when stopped or having an emergency and heading for a safe stop
The idiots driving 35 with flashers are illegal
Trucks going up the Grapevine with flashers illegal
Pickup with flashers following a slow farm tractor is illegal
You cannot drive in California with flashers on
Not that CHP gives a rats rear
They are looking for some of us with, dare I say, high performance German cars happily motoring along at warp speed

I work in civil construction. The nature of our work is such that we are often discussing safety of working around heavy equipment and motor
vehicles, and we unfortunately see first-hand what idiots most drivers are. One thing I have found is there are thoughtful drivers and oblivious
a$$hole drivers. The thoughtful driver that uses their flashers is better than thebajarunner thoughtlessly motoring along at warp speed in high
performance German cars with a belly full of selfishness, stupidity or drugs.

There was one of those marooons (in a Yugo!) on I-5 South the other morning. Some construction worker, looked a lot like Goat.
I was only on impulse drive in my "cheap" 2000 Ford Ranger. Not a threat to Goat, plodding along in his interstellar "road hazard."

I drove my souped up Peter Built up the Grapevine at least Twice a Week before I retired. although I never used the slow lane. If you are Going 35 or
less you must have your BLINKERS ON IT's THE LAW

Actually incorrect. 4 way flashers/hazard warning lights can be uses to warn others of a hazardous road condition(s)
California Vehicle Code Article 7. Flashing and Colored Lights (25250-25282)
(3) To warn other motorists of accidents or hazards on a roadway, turn signal lamps may be flashed as warning lights while the vehicle is approaching,
overtaking, or passing the accident or hazard on the roadway if the front turn signal lamps at each side are being flashed simultaneously and the rear
turn signal lamps at each side are being flashed simultaneously.

Yep-----It's referred to as "defensive driving". When conditions tell you that there is a good chance that somebody might run into you it's a good
idea to warn them that you are there------i.e. flashing lights. Seems like common-sense to me. On the other hand, if you are in slow
bumper-to-bumper traffic, flashers are really annoying and unnecessary since you KNOW that they see you. Again, common-sense.
