The big white ferry (Baja Ferries from Mazatlán?) has been sailing past our house every other morning for a few weeks. This is the ferry that passes inside of Isla Cerralvo from the south (heading north).

So, I guess that it is running.....

The black TMC ferry from Mazatlán also passes by regularly.

We have reservations for the La Paz Mazatlán ferry in early January. We have talked to our contact at the ferry office several times. All is set. WE are NOT a commercial vehicle. What we don't know yet is just which ferry is making the run. Apparently a new ferry was purchased, but I think it's doing the Topo run. Which ever, we will be on the ferry and arrive in Mazatlán the next day, mas o menos. This will be our 9th round trip.

Same as it ever was - Mexico. This is not the Catalena ferry system. Anything can and will happen. You will go when they go - maybe. The definition of manana is "not today".

Every beautiful beach in the world needs a few condo towers - NOT.

Sailed with no problem. Ferry left La Paz 8 p.m. and arrived in Mazatlan at 8 a.m. The fancy ferry with rooms with balconies is doing the Topo run. We had a room with 2 bunk beds, and a bathroom. Tiny window. Hey, it gets us from here to there. Can't complain.

Can you tell me what the cost is? I have a car on the mainland I'm going to be bringing across to Baja once our property there sells.

Cost based on length and type of vehicle. We have a mega cab pickup with a pop-up camper. Cost something over $400 one way La Paz/Mazatlán. If that sounds expensive, consider the drive from La Paz north around the Sea of Cortez and back to Mazatlán. Worth it, IMO.
Topo ferry is running. Can't give you details. We do the Mazatlán run. Call the La Paz office or look online.

I've just got a little VW Versa that's going to be filled with stuff from the condo we're selling. Is that a problem having stuff in the car?

The price was for both your passage tickets, the room and the truck. That's not too bad. Thanks for the info.

They don't care what's in your car.

And I suggest bringing your own food. In my experience the ferry food is revolting. I took one bite and scraped the rest off my plate into the garbage.

Its not fine dining but far from revolting. This was nov.2017. Is this a recent food report?
