Almost time for the big move!
So I have my affairs in order and have just a few months to get ready to move to Baja. My life's dream.
It hasn't been an easy year since I retired. But I wasn't expecting one either. "Best layed plans..." and all
Mostly I have been working on restoring my health thru my Newport Beach lifestyle. It still works.
Asthma from a life in a factory. And other injuries from doing confined space entry in aircraft fuel tanks and other "engineering" spaces. Neck, back
etc.
But I have improved and am starting to feel like me again. It feels good to be me.
I have a few more months on my lease here in CA so I will start the transition with a trip in a few weeks.
I will rent a little spot somewhere in San Quintin for a while. But really I'm in the mood for a road trip.
Baja has a way of helping remove "things" out of your head that maybe you don't want to remember anymore...
I got plenty.

I suppose this is a good time to request some "fishbucket list" input.
If there was 1 place you had to visit in Baja... where is it.
I just realised I don't have a favorite spot yet.
But I like lots of spots...
But the beach club at Los Muertos is a highlight.
La Concha beach club La Paz also high on my like list.
Maybe a pre-spring break trip. Far enough south for nice hot beach weather.
Suggestions?

Well, it all depends on what YOU like.
From that list, you like noise, cigarette smoke, and lots of people around?
My Baja bucket list is to see things that take me back in time to where people once were but in many cases are no longer there to ponder how and why
these artifacts were built or cliffs painted. Also places found nowhere else on earth, such as forests of boojum trees and oasis canyons with blue
palms.

Funny because those 2 places have been largely empty when I was there last.
Maybe it has changed.
I do love sitting alone on a secluded beach but I noticed that sometimes you like to sit in a beach club (restuarant) too.
I like both. Sometime I like to sit somewhere in the shade and check out the seen with a cool drink in hand.
Muertos Beach is fun to watch.
So is La Paz bay.
Just suggest something already!

I guess I want to see something exciting and different. So as to overwelm me and make me forget my troubles without needing to resort to intoxicants.
You know... a vacation...
Vagas for example.
I hate Vagas.
But I still go occasionally.
I love the fasination of the strip and the casinos. Bigger than life... overwelming.
But after 2 days I feel nausiated by the place and need to spend a day or 2 at Lake Mead to wash Vagas off me.
So maybe I need to go to Cabo and get the same experience.
Get dirty in Cabo and then go to the missions and blue palm canyons for "cleansing"
Might work. And I think Cabo is the only place with decent fishing in Feb-March.
Not sure I'll drive it. Too easy on airlines and rent a jeep or something.
I think I need to comune with a Roosterfish. Nothing funner.

Flying on hold a bit.
I am still saving pennies for my plane. The move to Baja will accelerate that.
SoCal ain't a cheap place to live so sooner better.
Turns out a neighbor in San Quintin owns a large sucessful flight school at John Wayne Airport (The OC).
Commutes back and forth regularly in a very beautiful aircraft.
So it can be done.
Maybe I will go back to work as a pilot... or get lost somewhere in Margerittaville.
Maybe we'll know more after this trip...

The one place in Baja I like probably more than any is La Paz. The Malecon is a great place to relax and watch people. I'm beginning to like Loreto
more and more too. But I really enjoy traveling down the dirt roads to see what's down there.

La Paz is a little hard to break free from. I spent months there once. I think I was planning to stay for a week.
I had an entire life there in a very short time. It was fun.

Just try every place until you find the one you like. Do you need to work, if not why do it? Seems like it would cut into your Baja time!

What fun to have a dream to find your favorite spot. You really will have to slowly explore until it jumps out atcha.
La Paz is wonderful but oh so hot in the summer so maybe live there half the time and search for something else the other half?
