What about your GPS after April 6?

Another panic story
Turns out that GPS devices like phones, tablets and standalone GPS receivers made before 2010 are vulnerable.
Contact the manufacturer to see if your device is good or bad. Some devices can have SW updates.

My back up GPS is my old TomTom XXL550, which has a copyright date of 2010, so it should be good?

The bad news is that I just tried to update it, and it was a no go! Although it was sold with lifetime updates, TomTom advised me that it is obsolete, and can no longer be updated.

They were kind enough to offer me a 20% off deal on a replacement unit which would cost $159. Pass!

If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space!

"Could do better if he tried!" Report card comments from most of my grade school teachers. Sadly, still true!

I have a NUVI 52LM and I contacted Garmin today and they said they were aware of the April date and were working on any fixes that may be needed. They told me to make sure all updates to it are installed.

As to Y2K we checked all the company devices that were computer related and told the boss everything was compatible no problems. He bought a new accounting computer for $82,000 anyway. McGraw-Hill the parent company spent over 4 million on upgrades. The funny thing was everyone was told to watch the news about the first countries passing midnight and see if anything happened. Didn't seem to be any major problems world wide. We had a full staff in house anyway just in case. I was kind of hoping cars on the streets would just quit working, that would have been funny.
