Going to San Felipe for a couple days this weekend

Want to shoot some good aerial ocean or mountain shots.

Give me some ideas of good spots?

Unbelievable, it can't be, that god forsaken pit has cast an evil eye on JZ. The evil spirits have taken over your soul. Say it isn't true.

But if you must fall into the devils den then here are a few suggestions.

Stop by the OX memorial. Take Hwy 3 east from Hwy 5 to KM163 and turn south toward Diablo dry lake. When you get to the power lines turn left and at the second power line tower the memorial is just to the north at 31-15.347x115-19.558. Pay tribute to a fallen motorcycle rider who was on a Cameron Steele trip to the tip a few years ago when he crashed in the area and died from his injuries.

I also agree on the Diablo waterfalls run. You can do it after the OX memorial by just running across the dry lake to the turnoff.

Also a trip up Matomi wash to the Matomi ranch and falls may be worth while.

Have you been to Mikes Sky Ranch? If not it might be worth a trip just to say you've been there. It's not San Felipe but an off road hangout. It is a good weekend trip and lots of good motorcycle rides between Mikes' and El Coyote and Meling ranch. If no locked gates the run from Mikes to the Observatory Road by way of Dark Skies Baja is a good run, rough but good.. Mike and Pamala put Dark Skies up for sale a few years ago but I don't know if it sold.

Funny. Someone shipped something from San Carlos, Sonora for me to pick up in Mexicali. Leaving tomorrow around noon and thought I'd make a mini-trip of it. Come back Monday.

I would recommend Percebu/Shell Island for some ocean shots. The northern tip of Shell Island is right across an estuary inlet from Percebu. Makes great areal shots. Plus, there usually lots of sea birds there.

Here is a link to their Facebook page.

Friends staying in the South Campos report that they were turned back from entering town to buy beer and hardware supplies. Supposedly, navy vehicles burned, too.
